Helping you restore motivation, confidence, and balance in your health, habits and relationships. 121 In-Person in Colchester, on zoom or through online courses My Story:-

Essentially, my story is the reason why I have changed career and became a therapist. I worked in financial services for a little under 15 years and had my own small but reasonably successful business. This was incredibly stressful and coupled with several romantic break-ups, I developed symptoms of anxiety and depression; and ultimately suicidal thoughts. In a relatively short space of time, I had completely changed from someone that was able to deal with running a business, stressful situations, and the pressures of modern life easily; to simply not being able to cope. I sought professional help and I was able to see the real and immeasurable benefit of talking about my thoughts, my feelings, and my emotional state with an empathetic professional individual. This process ignited a passion in me to help others that are experiencing challenges and I decided that I would retrain, change my career, and find a firm to take over my business as I believe that this is my calling. That my experiences, and more recently, my extensive professional training can be used to help others. I work with clients across a wide range of issues and challenges. I spend time with my clients to get a deep understanding of what their challenges are, and what they are looking to achieve. With the therapy that I provide; we look back to see how these problems have arisen, and equally importantly, to look at how they want their life to be once we have successfully worked together. The main issues that I work with clients on are:-

Stress
Anxiety
Depression
Suicidal thoughts
Insomnia

I am also experienced to work with clients to help with:-

Stopping smoking
Weight control
Alcohol/substance misuse
Confidence
Self-esteem
Relationship issues or breakdown
Fears and Phobias
Fibromyalgia
Chronic pain management
Trauma / PTSD
Mindfulness
Meditation

How do I help? I wholeheartedly believe that therapy is a collaborative process and there is no-size, fits-all approach. My training is focussed on hypnotherapy; however, it covers a range of “talking-therapy” approaches, including personal/life coaching, NLP techniques, mindfulness, and meditation. In working closely together with my clients, together we develop a programme of therapy that best suits their needs, aims, and objectives. Hypnotherapy is an incredibly powerful therapeutic technique which helps to you make changes at the deepest parts of your subconscious mind. It is a deeply relaxing, daydream-like experience in which you remain totally in control and aware throughout. I offer a free 30 minute telephone consultation to discuss the area(s) that you would like to work on. I offer (up-to) 2 hour intensive sessions that ordinarily includes a completely personalised hypnotherapy experience which is initially priced at £125.00 per session. Most commonly, I book clients in for a course of 4 x 2hour sessions, as this works out better value overall and it also gives us the time that is necessary to explore and discuss the challenges that you would to work on. Many of my clients start to experience benefits and changes after just one session. However, for the purposes of an example, a smoking cessation programme is 2 or 3 sessions on average; which for an average smoker is less than they spend on cigarettes in a month! If you have any questions, please do message me or feel free to call on 01206 752108, or 07900 366780 anytime. If I am with other clients, I will get back to you as soon as possible.

The three 3 things we absolutely *need* from all relationships.

This goes-double for the relationship we have to ourselves 😳

Over the years I’ve worked with a number of equestrians, quite literally - to help them get back on the horse.

Anyone felt as though they don’t fit in to a space, a group dynamic or situation?

Through a series of posts, I’m going to try to give some insight into why I’ve chosen to explore “fitting in” and why I’m looking to connect with people who have similar feelings.

Hoping to avoid sounding like is all about me. I speak about my experiences, so I can explain my perspective. I’m not looking for any sympathy if I describe a difficult experience. I’m good with the therapy side of things. I have someone for that. 😁

I’ve realised over the years & more recently learned more about who I am and what makes me, ME.

I’ve often had the feeling that I don’t quite fit my surroundings. There’s a number of reasons that I can now identify.

I’ll concentrate on the equestrian side of things, but it isn’t as simple as that in reality. There’s always a more in depth picture of identity in our psychological make-up which begins at a very young age in childhood. I won’t try to go into that here 😊

In terms of fitting in, in general, my experience is that my values/morals were often at odds with the people around me.

I was around 10 years old when I discovered that I loved Showjumping. I was really fortunate to have a pony who was green but keen. 😁
Like most things I do in life, I was obsessed with learning everything I could as fast as I could. I assumed that the adults around me knew everything and I should listen and do what they say.

Unfortunately, many of the adults around me were not very nice people. I saw a lot of violence towards horses and people. I had a gut feeling that things weren’t right. There were alarm bells going off in my nervous system all the time. I just didn’t know what to do about it. I was far too scared to challenge anyone directly.

Without going into war peace about my whole life… This continued into adulthood.

I began to do things my way, which I felt much better about, but it often meant I wasn’t accepted by others.

That’s the dilemma. Fit in & feel anxious, or make another choice but be alienated.

All anyone really wants is to fit in to a community & feel safe.

I’d like to create that community if I can.

Line of Duty is returning to our screens in 2026.

Now that Gareth Southgate is no longer England manager, I’ll just get “has anyone ever told you that you look a bit like him from Line of Duty?”

Are you actually lacking motivation and procrastinating? 😳

Or are you running on fumes?🥹

Are you actually burnt out?😩

And yeah, Burnout is a real thing.😱

My ongoing battle against limescale continues.

Shortly after, I replaced a washer in the shower.

If you’re not living life on the edge*; you’re taking up too much room.

Imposter syndrome.

Let’s dig into it.

It’s not something you just “have”

Most of what we describe as imposter syndrome is perfectly natural and normal brain chemistry.

Here’s a very quick breathing exercise to help you deal with other people’s 💩

It couldn’t be easier
Breathe in
“Not my monkey”
Breathe out
“Not my circus”

Try it for yourself 😅

Most of my clients are female in their 40/50’s, so the topic of menopause comes up a lot.

As a male therapist, it’s obviously something I have no lived experience of.

As an outsider-looking-in, here’s what I have learned from the conversations I have had
