🗓 BOA Annual Congress 2025
📍 Wednesday 17th September | 14:30–15:30
Session: Rotational Alignment of the Lower Limb – A Multi-specialty Approach to Optimising Outcomes

This collaborative session between BHS, BOFAS, and BASK tackles the complex and often overlooked issue of rotational alignment across the hip, knee, and foot & ankle — and how dysfunction in one joint can significantly affect the rest of the limb.

Expert speakers from each specialty will offer insight into how rotational alignment influences function and surgical outcomes, followed by a multidisciplinary panel discussion on managing deformity and improving results.

By combining expertise from across subspecialties, this session will deliver practical strategies and foster collaboration in treating complex alignment problems.

📢 NEW: BOFAS Position Statement on VTE Prophylaxis – 2025

BOFAS has released an updated position statement on VTE prophylaxis in foot and ankle surgery. This replaces the 2017 guidance and reflects the latest evidence, including data from the UK-FATE study.

Key messages:
✅ Risk-assess every patient.
✅ Avoid routine chemical prophylaxis in low-risk cases.
✅ History of VTE, raised BMI and Achilles ruptures have higher VTE risks.
✅ Encourage early weight-bearing where safe.

📄 Access the full statement here: https://shorturl.at/sQhD7

We hope members find this a valuable resource to support informed, evidence-based practice.
