Is anyone else trying to make homemade ice-cream in this weather? Wonderful with redcurrants from the garden. And no emulsifiers!

There is growing evidence that food additives, manufactured emulsifiers, and artificial sweeteners are damaging our gut bacteria, not only that but these manufactured substances may be responsible for the rise in cancer, especially bowel cancer. 20 years from now we may be wondering why on earth we allowed such consumption.....

Today is a special and emotional day for our family.

Jack’s first book, Food Noise, is officially published.

As many of you know, Michael dedicated his life to making science accessible, helping people take charge of their health with empathy, humour, and evidence-based advice. Jack grew up surrounded by that passion - dinner-table debates about the latest science, conversations about the latest research, and endless questions about how we eat and why.

Now, Jack steps forward with his own voice. Food Noise explores the science behind weight-loss medications like Ozempic and Wegovy, but just as importantly, it offers a bigger picture: one that includes long-term lifestyle change, nourishing food (with 50 recipes from Dr Clare Bailey Mosley and a compassionate understanding of why we eat the way we do.

This is more than a book - it’s a continuation of Michael’s mission. It’s Jack stepping into his own as a doctor, writer, and part of the Mosley legacy. We’re incredibly proud of him.

We miss Michael every day. But we know he would be cheering Jack on today - probably with a proud grin and a pun about GLP-1s.

Food Noise is out now. We hope you’ll read it and feel the same warmth, curiosity, and care that Michael always brought to his work - and that Dr Jack Mosley now brings to his.

With love,

The Mosley family

Happy Valentine's
I bet a lot of people will be enjoying chocolate in some form today, treats are fine in moderation and contribute to overall wellbeing.
Chocolate, especially dark, contains magnesium and flavonoids, which is a beneficial antioxidant.

Do you think you get enough magnesium? This little nutrient packs a big punch 👊. Vital for the nervous system, bones and muscles. I'm a bit obsessed and often try and increase my intake. Did you know that drinking lots of coffee ☕ can inhibit the amount of magnesium absorbed by the body making you feel more tired 😴 and therefore increase caffeine intake further. Those who do a lot of exercise also need lots of this mineral in their diet....

It's important to get a variety of fruit and vegetables into your diet, however sometimes sources other than fresh are overlooked. Frozen and tinned fruit and vegetables are also a valuable source of nutrition. Try picking tinned fruit in juice rather than syrup. I love this tinned grapefruit from Waitrose and it's only £1.20 for quite a big tin

This is my go to kefir, the one on the right. I was first introduced to kefir years ago before it became so popular. Back then I had polish kefir which was sold in large bottles. Full of friendly bacteria and much better than the small yoghurt drinks you can buy. Always try and get the natural flavour.
You can make kefir at home using sterile jars and kefir grains mixed with any milk or even water.

Rye bread or vollkornbrok as they call it in Germany and Holland. I've had this bread many times and it's very dense and filling. Can be eaten with savoury and sweet toppings and as you can see the ingredients are natural. Great source of fibre which is good for your gut and slow release carbohydrates. Can find this in most supermarkets.
