Guaranteed to aggravate, p*ss you off and make you feel techy as hell. 😵‍💫🤣

Ok .. so I bought a medium. This wetsuit is for someone who barely has ankles, very thin legs, and no body and is no taller than 4 feet. Wants to look and swim like a tadpole.

Practicing energetic (Yang) forms of Yoga aren’t supposed to be about burning calories or changing the way your body looks …. However through the enjoyment of the practice - you will burn calories and your body will change.

I liken it to a bag - and having the feeling that you’ve been lifted up and ‘pulled in’ 🤣

There are sooo many forms of Yoga from very relaxing to … not relaxing at all. I teach both.

Friday evenings I teach what’s called a Vinyasa Flow. It’s a form of Yoga that invites you to build strength, improve balance and increase mobility.

Is it hard?
It’s as hard as you want to make it. Some people are in deep poses, some in shallow. It’s about the feeling you get - not the shape.

Thats what is meant when Yogis talk about ‘your own personal journey’.

Love teaching this form of Yoga and class

Seb (baby boy) started running

…………And yesterday an Ironman!

‘I wish I could do that’ many of us say.

If we do what Seb did for as long as he did; at the intensity he did it … we too have a good chance of achieving such a massive achievement

In this case it’s age/physical relative, I realise; however ….

Most of us don’t get past our beliefs.

‘If we think we can, we can. If we think we can’t, we can’t. Either way - we are right’. Henry Ford

We need to believe we can in the first place. We need to believe that we are worthy of great outcomes in life.

We need to want to be/do/have something. I personally believe we can be/do/have what we want - but only to the level that we want it.

And lastly we need to put our ego to the side and start.
We are all beginners at first in whatever we do. We just need to make the first step

So …. We’ll only achieve what we want if we make that first step and believe we’re worthy of great things. Believe that we are bigger than we think we are.

We’ll only achieve what we want if it’s something we truly want - not just wish for.

And we’ll only achieve what we want if we put our ego to the side and be ok with being a ‘beginner’

Not everyone’s idea of a Friday night out 🤣 but this evening’s class was busier than I thought it might be and most enjoyable.
Not everyone can get into this pose but three did. Named karnapidasana or ‘ear pressure pose’. (My legs aren’t long enough to reach my ears - so I put pressure on my temples instead)
Takes a few months/years to get there but this pose increases both spinal strength and flexibility at a deep level.

I always think that if I got stuck in a lift with loads of people, it might feel like this …🤣🤷‍♀️ Feels claustrophobic. Calm breathing required.

The first stage or level for this pose is laying on your back with your legs in the air. That’s it! Perfect. Baby steps xx

Lake swimming is fantastic!
When I was a child I would never have thought I’d be swimming in a ‘greenish’ lake at 59!

It isn’t a place for posers 😎 far from it. It’s a place we get our wobbly thighs out, our pale skin - shining like a sardine; our big bums and bare faces.

I love the fact that as a nation we’ve changed and learned and we’re returning to what shoukd be.

We’re all realising that we’re part of nature. That we’re not our clothes, our cars or how much money we have - or don’t have. We’re literally the same as the ducks, the frogs and the weeds. All aiming to survive and flourish.

Taking our clothes off next to the side of a lake makes us realise we’re just the same as any other part of nature.

For me, it helps me breathe deeper and put life into perspective.

Lake swimmers get that you don’t have to be a good swimmer, you don’t have to be fast and that it isn’t a competition.

They understand that it’s OK and healthy to be 100% authentically themselves.

This is, and should always be, the mentality that goes with practicing Yoga.

Lululemon and Sweaty Betty have done a remarkable job in showing us what they think we should look like in Lycra.
… and much of that puts people off!

Be like lake swimmers. Don’t give a …
Be who YOU are.

Allow your body to be authentically and uniquely you. … no matter how you think you look, or how good or bad you think you are at yoga.

Show up not caring if you’re not the shape you’d ideally like to be, but instead rejoice in the fact that you have a functioning body that will benefit hugely without the risk of injury.

I’m loving being more connected to nature. Having swapped the ocean for a lake. Same/Same-ish 🤣

Go swimming, cycle, do the park run/walk, join a trekking group - practice yoga. Connect with your body and mind on a deeper level

Putting ourselves in situations where we literally don’t care what we look like is being open to a fuller and much more fulfilled life.

Live life.

…. Oh I was grateful for a hot shower 🐸

Whoa! Hot enough?

When the weather's like this I think, what the hell, when it comes to practicing Yoga. I mean ..... ????

'Let's practice outside' I hear you say.
Yep, that works, but right now, it's still BOILING HOT at 6pm, and most of us want to get out of the sun.

I'm thinking .... most of us want to sit in the shade at home or lay in a cold bath ... or go and swim in a lake somewhere.

Am I wishing for rain? ....My business is!!
As a business owner, this hot sun is almost as bad as the snow!
...I'm taking the good with the not so good; I'm taking the rough with the smooth. The ups with the downs, and the calm with the storm. It's going to reach 29 degrees tomorrow!!!! ... People asked me to bring some sunshine back from Australia ... but this is nuts!

I'll be at Sysonby Acres tomorrow evening at 5.50pm for a one hour Yoga session. (In my bikini ha ha ) If we decide to practice under the trees, then we can do that. (We can do whatever we want). The air con is nice - so inside does work well.

Anyway I'm doing my rain dance this evening, but only for 6-7pm tomorrow evening.

....I'm selfish like that! : )

Yoga isn’t a competition and never should be …we’re all on our own path and ‘journey’ … but I’ve noticed something

Welcome to Yoga at The Head Shed. Here we provide Ashtanga Style Yoga Classes, Live in halls LE13 and LE14, Virtually online and Private One to One Classes here in The Shed.

An Ashtanga style of Yoga increases flexibility, increases strength and tones the body. Yoga also has a profound effect on the mind leaving you feeling invigorated yet calm.

Modifications are given throughout to enable all levels of ability to attend. Note: Like anything new, it takes a couple of weeks to get used to what you’re doing and then you’re off!
