Full moon in Leo, also known as the snow moon ❄️🌝❄️

Today’s full moon brings us a strong energy, pushing us to speak up and be in total truth.

Be yourself. Don’t let anything hold you back. Allow yourself to be free.

It’s time to clear the air and communicate openly and truthfully.

Move forward just like your heart desires.

Happy full new blessings 💛

The way you feel about yourself is more important than any love you might have for another.

Yesterday’s « celebration of love » tends to be about others… but what about yourself?

How much time do you dedicate to you? To love yourself and make yourself feel good and worthy?

The relationship you have with yourself is by far the most important one you’ll ever have. It’s the only relationship you’re guaranteed to have for life. So nurture it, take care of it.

Make time for yourself, invest in yourself, and make sure you cultivate an inner practice. It is only by doing that work that you can develop awareness and self realisation, and ultimately true love (for yourself).

How do you commit to yourself?

Much love 💝

The best supplement out there???

💙 LOVE 💙

Oxytocin, dopamine, and serotonin are known as the “happy hormones.” When you're attracted to another person, your brain releases dopamine, your serotonin levels increase, and oxytocin is produced.

Oxytocin is a hormone that acts as a neurotransmitter, and once activated it will create a cascade of positive emotions…

Oxytocin also decreases stress and anxiety levels.

And did you know that in men, oxytocin helps move s***m, and in women the hormone helps release breast milk?

Comfort foods with a healthy twist - this is a banana and oat bread in which I added chia seeds, collagen powder and MCT oil to make it healthier (protein and fats will also do that)!

How do you tweak your favourite foods to make them healthier?

Hello dear ones… it’s been a while… thank you for remaining present. I’ve recently received some lovely messages which motivated me to post (again 🤩).

It’s been such a busy start to the year. Since January, I’ve been working with a functional medicine endocrinologist, which has been really interesting but very time consuming, and I’ve also started doing yoga for children at a school, as well as still teaching private yoga sessions, and I’m also coaching… so it’s been full on!

My sleep, self care routine, and private life have suffered because of it, so there have been some tough times recently.

This quote feels so meaningful and it also allows me to honour Thich Nhat Hanh 🙏🏾

Buddhism teaches you to accept suffering. Suffering is inevitable, and when we learn to accept it, we will suffer a lot less. Being able to let go and accept the impermanence and imperfection of life, allows us to grow and bloom.

The roots of the lotus grow in the mud, and in order to flower it needs to go through murky and dark waters.

The art of happiness means having to understand the significance of suffering.

I hope this beautiful quote feels relevant to you too. Sometimes we need these reminders 🌸

Sending everyone 💝

Another great immune boosting food is garlic, and as we’re all about to start cooking a lot, it’s the perfect excuse to use a bit of extra garlic in your dishes!

It’s allicin, the compound in garlic (that is activated when crushed or chewed), that is known for its immune boosting properties. Eating garlic will help prevent you from catching a cold or the flu, and if you do get sick, eating raw garlic every day (like 2 gloves) will reduce the severity of your symptoms, and help you recover quicker.

Ginger is great for your gut and 70% of your immune system is in that area!

Turmeric is the best anti-inflammatory out here, and your inflammation needs to be low for your immune system to be optimal.

So add some extra spice into your life and nurture your immune system at the same time.

Happy Friday folks 🧄 and happy holidays for those celebrating.

It’s so important at this time of year to boost your immune system.

It doesn’t have to be complicated. A few simple actions will help.

Make sure you get plenty of vitamin C. It can be satsumas, grapefruits, kiwis, red bell peppers, or even broccoli, but ensure you get at least 2 servings a day during the winter months.

Vitamin C not only boosts your immune system but decreases the severity and duration of upper respiratory infections.

One of my servings today was a small glass of freshly squeezed clementines. So refreshing and tasty. Later, I’ll be having some broccoli!

Happy Wednesday 🧡

Hello everyone, I hope you’ve all been well. As some of you have noticed, I haven’t posted for a while. I love sharing my knowledge and health tips, but sometimes I find Instagram adds additional stress to my life, that is totally unnecessary.

Between client work and then responding to DMs, creating content, it can sometimes feel too much… so that’s when I take a break…

Thank you for sticking around 🙏🏾 I’m here to continue posting, and I hope you enjoy the content 😊

As it’s Friday, I thought I’d do my usual 🤓

I recently tried finger limes (aka caviar lime) for the first time - have you ever tried them?

They are super tangy with a lemon-like flavour. They consist of tiny, delicate pearl-like segments that pop in your mouth, making you squint slightly 😝

Finger limes come in different colours from green to light purple to yellow, and originate from Australia.

They are super high in vitamin C, so great for the winter months to help boost your immunity. Vitamin C is also great for the skin, as it encourages the production of collagen, and also helps fight free radicals that damage skin cells.

Finger limes are also rich in vitamin A, great for eye health, vitamin E, which has antioxidant properties so helps reduce age-related diseases.

If you’ve never tried them, give it a go and let me know what you think.

Happy Friday Folks 😘

There is nothing quite as magical as an autumnal nature walk.

Not only is it breathtakingly beautiful but being outdoors in nature has been proven to lower levels of cortisol (which is your stress hormone).

Studies have also shown that it boosts the immune system and improves brain function.

Being outdoors in nature is not only about being active and having some fresh air, but it‘s an overall amazing mood booster!

If you don’t have the time to do that during the week, give yourself that precious time over the weekend.

Enjoy your Sunday lovelies 🍁🍂

Shiitake mushrooms are a great source of protein, fibre, minerals and vitamins, including B1, B2, B3, B12, C, and D. In fact, they contain the highest level of vitamin D in any plant food!

Shiitake mushrooms have compounds that help lower cholesterol which means it’s a great food for heart health.

They have antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal effects, and are anti-inflammatory so boost your immune system too!

Not only are they super nutritious but have a delicious savoury flavour. If you’re not a fan of mushrooms, a huge variety can be found in powder or supplement form.

Did you know that shiitake mushrooms are fungi that grow naturally on decaying hardwood trees in Japan? After button mushrooms they are the second most widely cultivated mushroom variety in the world!

Happy Friday folks 🍄❤️🍄

Did you know that around 70% of the population struggles with Vitamin D deficiency?

Depletion of this essential fat-soluble vitamin can create depression, anxiety, exhaustion, overwhelm, insomnia, immune disorders, and can increase your risk of getting certain illnesses.

Although we’ve had some sunny weather recently, it’s simply not enough. So with winter fast approaching, now is the time to start supplementing with Vitamin D3.

It plays a vital role in your health, and even acts like a hormone in many ways. It helps to fight inflammation, and supports the immune system.

Previously it was thought that it’s main role was simply to strengthen bones, but did you know it strengthens your muscles too?

Not everyone requires the same amount but please feel free to DM to know how much you should be taking.

Happy Sunday all 🌞

This was so delicious 😍
Soba noodles with sautéed mushrooms and leeks, raw red cabbage and carrots, mixed with a sauce made of tamari, brown rice vinegar, roasted sesame oil, garlic, lemon juice, and S&P!

Soba is a thin Japanese noodle made from buckwheat.

Buckwheat is a great alternative to wheat as it has a lower GI and more fibre. It has more antioxidants than most other grains. Its plant compounds include quercetin, rutin, vitexin, and D-chiro-inositol. Rutin strengthens the blood vessels while quercetin helps to reduce inflammation.

Buckwheat is also richer in minerals, compared to other types of grains, such as magnesium, manganese, copper, and phosphorus.

Buckwheat moderates blood sugar levels, and can boost heart health by improving blood pressure as well as your blood lipid profile.

Despite the name, buckwheat contains no wheat (and is totally gluten free) — in fact, it’s closer to a seed than it is to a grain.

Happy Friday folks 😘

The new moon in Libra.

It’s the energy of harmony, grace, and healthy relationships. Seek partnerships that will elevate you, and harness this power in a positive manner.

Have discipline, and with authentic insight your self-confidence with blossom.

Like with every new moon, it’s a time to re-set, re-charge, and re-balance.

New moons are times of manifestations and new opportunities; especially when it comes to our mindset. Only you can make change happen.

Sending everyone good new moon vibes 🖤🌚🖤

If you’re into mayonnaise (which I wasn’t unless it was home made… until now!!) then you are going to love this 🤩

Not only does it taste like the homemade version, but it’s actually healthy, especially when you compare it to other brands on the market.

There are only 4 ingredients in this delicious :
- Avocado oil
- Egg yolk
- Apple cider vinegar
- Himalayan salt

Most other versions are made of rapeseed oil (which is super unhealthy), have added water (just to add weight 🤦🏽‍♀️), sugar, flavourings, and sometimes other nasties!

There is a price difference but for your health it’s definitely worth the swap.

Happy Friday folks 🧚‍♀️

The appearance of some sun today put a big smile on my face 😁 my favourite seasons are autumn and spring, but they do bring with them a certain amount of rain.

Water is an essential part of life, but given that the UK hasn’t had much sun this year, and it looks like quite a rainy forecast ahead… plus, you can feel how the days are getting shorter, and we’ve all had a challenging past 18 months…. This can all feel a bit gloomy, and start affecting people’s moods… so be gentle on yourself, listen to your needs, and try to find something to be grateful about every day 🙏🏾

Continuing on the subject of insulin resistance, I’ll be sharing with you natural ways on how to increase insulin sensitivity.

Start by balancing your blood sugar!

A lot of people don’t realise that insulin resistance (and pre-diabetes) can lead to strokes, heart attacks, and dementia, and this is years before you would probably even get diagnosed.

You need to remove refined sugars and starches from your diet. Or at least considerably reduce the starches! It will definitely be challenging at the beginning, but once you start to feel the benefits, it will no longer seem like such an effort.

This means removing pasta, cereals, bread, and pastries. Instead eat more colourful vegetables, healthy fats, protein, legumes, and small amounts of whole grains.

It really is a game changer. DM me for more information.

Happy Tuesday sweeties 😄

A while back I wrote about the pros and cons of raw vs cooked.

As we change season, it’s important to start changing what you eat (and consume seasonal and ), and also to start reducing the amount of raw foods and increase the amount of cooked foods.

Did you know that our gut microbiome varies seasonally?

That means that independently of what you eat, which directly impacts your gut population, certain types of microbes appear during each season.

Happy Friday folks 🙌

22/09/2021

The Harvest Moon is the name given to the full moon that occurs nearest to the autumnal equinox. Apparently the light of the Harvest Moon allowed farmers to work late into the night.

The Autumn equinox represents the harmony of day and night, which could also be interpreted as the light and darkness in our lives.

Each season symbolises a phase of life within ourselves and Autumn is a season of transition.

It is a beautiful time to reset, start slowing things down (in preparation of the Winter season) and letting go. Just as the leaves start changing colour, the trees are shedding what they no longer need.

You can live a much more harmonious life if you start connecting with nature, and living according to the seasons.

Happy Autumn Equinox beauties 🍁

Happy full moon blessings in Pisces!

This full moon will activate the Virgo sun, allowing a gateway to manifest your dreams and future goals.

You must remember that endings are an essential part to new beginnings, and therefore letting go of your fears is a must.

For success to happen: be open, be grateful, be creative, and activate your internal awareness.

Sending everyone good vibes 🌝

20/09/2021

In women, too much insulin turns oestrogen into testosterone. The result is something misleadingly called polycystic ovarian syndrome. It is not an ovarian problem; it is actually a dietary problem.

The extra testosterone in women can cause hair loss, facial hair, acne, infertility, and many other symptoms.

In men, the testosterone gets converted to oestrogen, which is why men with big bellies often have man b***s, low testosterone, impotence, loss of hair on their bodies, and more.

This is just another example of how poor metabolic health can hijack our health!

If you think you might be suffering from insulin resistance, I urge you to get some lab tests done.

DM me for more information.

Adding some sunshine to my day (given the gloomy weather outside)

Thank you for introducing me to the most delicious and lassi that I’ve ever had (excluding the ones I’ve had in India 🌞)

- 125 ml coconut mylk
- 1 tsp freshly grated ginger
- 1/2 tsp crushed cardamom

13/09/2021

Up to 1 in 3 people could be suffering from insulin resistance (also known as metabolic syndrome).

Different health problems fall under this category such as type 2 diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular diseases, dementia, high blood pressure and cholesterol, to name the biggest ones.

As a reminder, insulin is a hormone that helps balance blood sugar levels, and is often referred to as the "fat storage" hormone.

So what exactly is insulin resistance?

To keep it super simple - it's when your cells no longer react properly to insulin. This happens when there has been a high level of glucose in your blood, over a long period of time.

Your body will have continued producing insulin, but basically has over-produced it, and in turn your cells turn themselves OFF because they are tired.

The excess glucose is then stored in the liver and tissues and that’s when the problems start.

In the past, cholesterol was thought to be the problem. However it’s inflammation and hormonal disruptions, that are the main culprits!

And what causes inflammation and hormonal chaos? Bad diet, stress, toxins, and lack of exercise.

Unfortunately, most people can't tell if they have insulin resistance. To be sure, you’ll need to get a blood test that checks your blood sugar levels.

Over the summer you might have had less stress if you were lucky enough to go on holiday, but chances are your good eating habits went out the window as well… this will mean increased insulin resistance, and the more you ignore it, the worse it will get.

The good new is that by changing a few lifestyle and dietary habits, you can reverse metabolic syndrome.

DM me if you want to know more.

Neem comes from India and is a tree. In Ayurveda, different parts of this tree (the leaves, flowers, seeds, fruit, roots, and bark) are used as a medicinal plant, and have been for centuries.

Neem has over 140 active compounds that have various antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.

It is used to treat pain, fever, and infections, it helps reduce blood sugar levels, and is also a treatment for ulcers, gastrointestinal troubles, and brain ailments.

Neem has antimicrobial effects and can be effective against several types of bacteria, viruses, and fungi.

In India, many toothpastes contain neem as it is not only is great for cleaning teeth and preventing tooth decay, but it can also help treat gingivitis.

It is often used to purify the blood, liver, and kidneys so great for skin health and for your hair.

Neem oil is used as a common herbal pest repellant, and effective against mosquitoes and certain fleas. Other forms of neem can repel moths.

You should never take neem if you’re pregnant, and like with all herbal supplements, always check with your GP or health care practitioner before taking them.

All of the ingredients in this salad are perfect for the follicular phase of your cycle.
