Futurehealth.Brighton Futurehealth Brighton is now offering holistic and sustainable medical care and massage. Now you can speak to a holistic GP online, or be seen in your own home.

Since 2012 we have been looking at ways to provide community-based personalised healthcare. Welcome! to an innovative and ambitious community project to regenerate the seafront of East Brighton. We are interested in holistic care, which encompasses; health, food, education, scientific research, exercise, play, landscape and beauty, amongst other things.

And why the picture of ancient Greeks? For 2000 years doctors visited patients and offered them massage. Then we invented the stethoscope, and many other advances, and lost the tradition of therapeutic touch. I am training in therapeutic Swedish massage because in some situations a massage is exactly what is needed as part of holistic and sustainable health care.

In November 2025 I have taken a giant leap, and launched a new service: offering holistic GP services for a reasonable price. The reason I have stepped into the private sector is that after 20 years of looking, I have not found a 'sustainable' way to work within our NHS. I want to be able to offer care that is sustainable for the person that wants medical care, for the person offering that care, and for the planet that we all depend on.

If you want an NHS registered and qualified GP who can dedicate enough time to see and hear you, and to work out a plan for your health that is sustainable because it suits you and your lifestyle...then have a look at my website where you can instantly book in. Futurehealthbrighton.uk

Who thinks the tide has already turned against fossil fuels? Have you heard the term ‘stranded assets ? Is there any bank account, savings ISA or pension fund that you could move now to back more sustainable projects?
Thank you to all the rebels that made the fight against fossil fuel subsidies more visible. What a glorious short film!

January 2021 - the sweetest song for you, and a few thoughts

I am starting a blog, and its nothing to do with SARS-CoV-2.Its about what could happen next. I will be sending out a monthly bit of chat about my experiences as I keep on going on with the ideas that inspired Futurehealth nearly 10 years ago.

Some rough calculations suggest that I have seen and heard over 50,000 people's stories in clinic over the past 20 years. What they have said makes me continue to question the healthcare framework in which I work. There are many huge threats that we face; inequality everywhere, and health inequity, climate change, antimicrobial resistance, and right now the Covid-19 pandemic. But I remain very optimistic about our shared future because I am constantly impressed by how kind, patient, thoughtful and creative people are - if you ask them.

My current favourite reads are Humankind: A Hopeful History by the Dutch philosopher Bregman, and Health is Made at Home: Hospitals are for repairs by Lord Crisp. They both reafirm my faith, not in governments or large organisations, but that most people, given half a chance, will do their best for their loved ones, for colleagues and even for total strangers.

This year I want to join a movement for Health Creation, that celebrates people, focuses on health more than disease, and ability not disability. Any one else out there feel the same way?

An office, a restaurant and a bus were the settings for multiple infections that have been studied in detail by health authorities. Their conclusions offer valuable lessons for the deescalation process
