The quality of the relationship with your therapist, one that is understanding, safe, secure and collaborative, is key. I believe we all have the ability to live to our personal potential within the parameters of our unique life circumstances and the situation we are in. And so my theoretical approach is underpinned by a Humanistic/ Existential philosophy. There is no single theory that can possibly encompass the complexities of the human condition and believe our path to healing and improved well-being is as unique as we are individuals. This is why I take an Integrative Approach, through which I bring together several therapeutic approaches and theories, fitting the therapy to you and what is best for your unique situation and what you want to achieve. Integrating Transactional Analysis (TA), Psychodynamic thinking, Interactional, Systemic, Gestalt and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Creative and Experiential Methods. For couples, my approach is centred around creating a safe space for you to discuss your concerns with mutual understanding, as well as building awareness of what has led to or what is keeping you in stuck patterns of relating or in particular roles, helping you and your relationship to move forward.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed at the moment with stresses or anxieties because of uncertainty think about allowing yourself a mindful break from chewing them over. Set yourself some time, 5 minutes, half an hour, an hour, however much you can manage without feeling too anxious to get back to sorting things out. For that time focus your mind and body on something else that will lift your spirits; exercise, listen to or watch something you enjoy, paint, read some fiction... If thoughts and feelings about your troubles come to mind while you’re doing this, just gently remind yourself you can get back to them if needed once you’ve had your break!

Sometimes life can be difficult or challenging. Maybe you have noticed feelings that you are struggling with such as sadness, anxiety, anger, depression, stress, worry, guilt, or shame?
Perhaps something has particularly knocked you sideways? Maybe you are finding your usual means to cope with life’s challenges no longer suffice or you realise they are not the solution?
Or do you find yourself feeling lost or empty, or caught up in a cycle of thinking or behaving that is affecting your emotional well being or making life, work or relationships difficult?
Do you see the same patterns repeating in your life but are finding it difficult to do something different? Are you finding close relationships a challenge, or struggling to get on with family, groups or work relationships?
Have you and your partner got into stuck ways of relating? Is this leaving you feeling hurt, sad or lonely, or are you hurting or blaming those you love?
You may be able to identify a reason why you feel the way you do, or maybe there are so many reasons you feel overwhelmed. You may simply have a general sense that that life isn’t working out as you want it to, are looking for direction or want to make more of life.
