Wildwood Health Worm Counts An Independent Specialist Testing laboratory Service Est.2015 for Faecal Egg Worm Counts. Equine Camelid sheep Goats Avian by Qualified Laboratory Scientist.

AMTRA Qualified RAMA (SQP).Offering FREE Veterinary approved deworming advice. Are you concerned about worms in your horses? If you're not, you should be! Researcher’s report that decades of frequent deworming of all horses without regard for season or individual horses' needs has put us on a destructive path, with worms becoming increasingly resistant to deworming drugs and no quick or easy solutions in sight. We have to change the way we manage parasite loads in our horses. Feacal egg counting is a fantastic development in the professional parasitological tool kit. They can be used to assess whether the chemical intervals of a worming program are suppressing egg laying activity. They can be used to detect resistance to chemical wormers and they will also detect severe parasite infections. Veterinary recommendations are to stop blanket chemical worming as there is no need. It is only by replacing the chemicals with feacal egg counting that our horses will remain safe. The incorporation of this practice into your horse health care program should commence. Do all companies and vets offer the same service? Every test involves the analysis of dung under a microscope improve the visibility of the sample. A centrifuge spins the dung and organic matter in the sample away from the eggs. With a centrifuge only the eggs are left to view. This sample is then viewed on a special slide and three counts are done to ensure accurate results are obtained for each individual sample.Every customer can then make effective decision on worming tailored for their specific requirements.

**🐴 Smart Worming for Your Donkey! 🐴**

Did you know donkeys need a different worming approach than horses? Here's the best way to keep your donkey healthy while avoiding over-worming:

**Why Faecal Worm Counts Matter:**
Instead of routine worming every few months, test first! Worm counts tell you exactly what parasites your donkey has and whether treatment is actually needed.

**Special Considerations for Donkeys:**
• More prone to lungworm than horses
• Can harbor parasites without showing obvious symptoms
• Require targeted treatment based on worm count results

**How Wildwood Worm Counts Can Help:**
🔬 www.wildwoodwormcounts.co.uk offers professional worm count testing
📦 Easy postal service - collect sample, send it off, get results quickly
📊 Expert interpretation of results with clear treatment recommendations
💰 Cost-effective way to avoid unnecessary worming

**The Smart Worming Approach:**
1. Do regular worm counts (every 3-6 months)
2. Only treat when counts indicate it's necessary
3. Always include lungworm monitoring for donkeys
4. Maintain good pasture management

Reduce chemical use, save money, and keep your donkey healthy! 🌿

⚠️ IMPORTANT ALERT FOR ALPACA OWNERS ⚠️
We've been seeing a concerning increase in Trichuris (whipworm) infections in alpaca samples received at our laboratory recently, and we wanted to make sure our alpaca community is aware.
What are whipworms? Trichuris whipworms are intestinal parasites that can cause:
Weight loss and poor condition
Diarrhoea or loose droppings
Reduced appetite
Anaemia in severe cases
General ill-thrift
Why this matters: Whipworm infections can be particularly challenging because:
They can be harder to detect than other worms
Heavy burdens can significantly impact your alpacas' health
They require specific treatment approaches
What you should do: ✅ Regular faecal egg counts are essential for early detection ✅ Maintain good pasture management and hygiene ✅ Don't wait for symptoms -
If you haven't had your herd tested recently, now is the time to get a worm count done. Early detection means easier management and healthier alpacas.
