💜Hi to all Connie followers 💜

This morning I am sharing some exciting news 😁. Our maternity service has a new social media presence, starting with brand new Facebook and Instagram profiles (links shared below).

We are working alongside Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnership Newcastle and our perinatal engagement groups to create content that is informative and useful. You can expect videos and pictures from around the unit and detailed information about all aspects of pregnancy, birth, postnatal and newborn care.

We will also use our social media to gather feedback and celebrate all the families who use our maternity services, and will help you to get to know our staff and all about the services we offer here in Newcastle.

If you currently have a breast pump overdue on loan from our RVI Infant feeding team, please can you arrange to return it as a matter of urgency, as our stock is extremely low!
Please call us on 0191 2826833 if you have a pump to return, need to discuss an extension or have difficulty in returning the pump

By returning your breast pump, we can continue to support our Mums who are struggling to breastfeed.

Thank you for your support

Merry Christmas! Connie has been visited today by the Claus Family who kindly came to meet our inpatients and new babies! Here they are meeting Natasha who has welcomed Christmas Twins born earlier than planned, called Aria Jenny & Aurora Jane.
Mr & Mrs Claus were keen to meet Natasha as they welcomed their own set of premature twins on our Delivery Suite 16 years ago this Christmas! Elves Twinkle & Sparkle (pictured) were born on 23/12/2008 at 32 weeks before being cared for by our wonderful NICU team. Congratulations to Natasha on the safe arrival of your babies & thank you to The Clauses for your tandem-twin-feeding advice ❤️❤️

Flu, RSV and Covid-19 cases have risen and the best way to protect yourself and your baby against the dangers of contracting these serious infections in pregnancy is to receive your vaccinations. It is safe to be vaccinated during pregnancy.

The following vaccinations are recommended and safe to have during pregnancy:
• Flu (any gestation)
• COVID-19 (any gestation)
• Pertussis/ whooping cough (From 16 weeks gestation)
• RSV (from 28 weeks gestation)
Drop-in to the RVI Maternity Vaccination Hub when you're attending for another appointment or come and see us for just your vaccine. We’re also here to answer any questions you might have.
• Location: Antenatal Clinic, Level 4, Leazes Wing.
• Times: Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm.
☎️ If you prefer, you can contact the vaccination team between these times to make a planned appointment on Tel: 0191 2829939.
Alternatively, please speak with your Community Midwife.
The best way to protect you and your baby is to receive your vaccines💜

🌟💜I love seeing all the lights up at this time of year, brightening up the dark winter nights 💜🌟

Although, at the RVI, we are fans of ambient lighting all year round!

💜 Here are some photos of labour and birth rooms we have on our Birthing Centre and Delivery Suite. 💜

Simple equipment like light projectors and bedside lamps, helping to create a cosy and welcoming environment for you to meet your baby in ✨

Thanks again to for their funding that allowed us to purchase the labour room lights
