💭 Do you ever sit there absolutely bursting for a wee… but your dog/child/monster is finally asleep and you just can’t risk moving?

When you’re out in nature, keep your eyes peeled for clues…
👣 Footprints in the mud — maybe a monster’s passed this way?

We’ve all said it: “Use your words!”
And sometimes it works.
But here’s the thing — when a child’s brain is flooded with big feelings, the ‘word-finding’ part of their brain can go completely offline.

It’s not that they won’t talk… it’s that they can’t.
In that moment, their body is asking for safety, connection, and co-regulation — not a vocabulary test.

Cycle breakers — let’s swap “use your words” for:
💛 “I can see this is hard, I’m here.”
💛 “Let’s take a breath together.”
💛 “We’ll find the words when you’re ready.”

Because when we help them feel safe first, the words will follow.

This is my brain… before and after a glitter swirl ✨

I could watch this for hours.
Glitter swirling, little treasures floating around — it’s like my brain finally goes ‘ahhh’.

Making a calm jar is basically giving your nervous system a mini spa day 💛
Water, glitter, a few calming objects… give it a swirl and watch the magic happen.
The sparkles slow down, your breathing slows down, and before you know it… so has your mind.

Cycle breakers — we don’t always need big solutions.
Sometimes it’s as simple as a jar, some glitter, and permission to pause.

Because when you’re a big kid raising little kids (and breaking the cycle after PND & PTSD), these little bursts of joy aren’t ‘impulse buys’ — they’re therapy.

Some people buy candles… I buy stuff that sticks to your hands and gets everywhere 🤷‍♀️
Worth it. Every. Single. Time. Plus… it doubles up as an activity for Worley’s World …WINNER

“Yes, I played while setting up… obviously.
Because play isn’t just for kids — it’s how cycle breakers heal 💛👾”

✨ If you think I can set up a workshop without having a little play… you clearly don’t know me well enough yet 😂
But here’s the thing — play isn’t just for the kids. It’s how we reconnect, re-energise, and remind ourselves we’re still in there somewhere (even after PND, PTSD, or years of putting everyone else first).

Cycle breakers — we’re rewriting the rules, one Lego brick and monster giggle at a time 💛👾

🚫 I’ve stopped telling my kids to “calm down.”
Why? Because I’ve learnt that when big feelings show up, their nervous system isn’t in a place where words alone can fix it.
💛 Instead, I focus on co-regulation – breathing together, moving, or giving deep pressure hugs until they’re ready to talk.

It’s not bad behaviour – it’s a body asking for help.
And honestly? I wish someone had taught me that when I was little.

Try a Monster Colour Hunt – pick a colour, grab a basket or bag, and find 5 things outside that match it.
💛 Bonus: Talk about how each thing makes you feel (“Yellow makes me feel bright and happy… what about you?”).

This isn’t just fun – it gets you moving, talking, and connecting (and sometimes it’s exactly what we need as much as they do).
