Hello! We are The Pepper Foundation. Thank you for taking the time to find out more about the work our lovely little charity does.
The Pepper Foundation is a very small, local charity that helps to fund hospice at home care for children in Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire.
We believe that during this terribly frightening and difficult time, children and their families should be given the option to be cared from at home, surrounded by the people and belongings they love.
The nursing team we help to fund provides free 24/7 on-call care from home for children in the area with life-limiting conditions. This service has been described as a ‘lifeline’ to parents and relatives of these children. Without this care, these families would have limited support, or may have to take their poorly child into hospitals or hospices, away from family life.
As this is a charity nursing team, there are no time restrictions on the nurses visits, and all the care and support has been tailored to that child’s needs. The nursing team currently care for around 50 local children with life-limiting or terminal conditions, so you can imagine the amount of love, care and effort that is required for this invaluable support.
Family fun days
The Pepper Foundation also arrange family fun days for the children and their families. We recently visited a local farm which the children adored, and soon we will be taking them, their parents and their siblings to the local zoo!
The Pepper Team also take Mums and Dads out for curry or an afternoon tea to give them some well deserved time off being a parent and full time carer. This respite can really make a huge difference and helps them to meet other parents in a similar situation.
