Along with my sister Ali Serle and cousin Sarah Fraser, we are taking on the challenge of trekking 90miles of the Jurassic coast in 3.5 days in September. We are doing this to raise money for the wonderful, compassionate Welmar Hospicecare nurses in Dorset who looked after my dad so well at home, supported him during Covid, and then finally at the end in their beautiful hospice.

Please help support us and this amazing charity if you can.

Thankyou

Help Ali, Sarah and Julia Team Fraser raise money to support Weldmar Hospicecare

Orthopaedic massage is a type of injury rehabilitation that focuses on the muscles and soft tissues surrounding joints.

DID YOU KNOW that as an Orthopaedic Massage Therapist i don't only work on the soft tissue and muscles, but also think about and work on the placement of bones and joints, and how each can be affected by the other.

All types of manual therapy aims to reduce joint lesions.
Joint lesions can cause reduced range of motion, pain during movement, and pain without movement.

They can occur from weak or tight muscles due to incorrect posture, muscle spasms, excessive muscle fatigue, stress, and muscle imbalances, or from soft tissue damage to the surrounding ligaments, the joint capsule, or the adjacent bursa.
They can also occur due to specific problems within the joint, such as inflammation, or displacement of vertebrae.

The aim of manual therapy is to reduce the pain, and increase the range of movement within the joint. This can be done through soft tissue work, such as massage, stretches, and strengthening, or by techniques that work on the the placement of the joint. Such as gentle, small, fast thrusts called manipulations.

As an orthopaedic therapist i use both these techniques to complement each other (if applicable and appropriate) to help improve pain and movement.

If you have any questions, or are interested in booking in for an appointment, please get in touch.

So now I am officially an orthopaedic therapist, with manipulation as a new technique to offer, some of you may be wondering what this actually means.

The manipulation I may use is known as a high velocity /Low amplitude thrust (HVLA), a fast gentle thrust to encourage bones and joints to realign, to reduce pain and increase range of movement. I would only use this technique after I have massaged, mobilised and released the soft tissue surrounding the joint, and only where appropriate.

Once a joint is realigned it allows the surrounding entrapped soft tissue to release, including, muscle, cartilage, and nerves, helping to resolve any underlying issues.

There is now only one course in the whole of the UK that offers this as a stand alone diploma, and as a result we know we are now in the top 30 people in the country with this top level of qualification. (Advanced massage techniques school - AMTS)

I love helping my clients reduce pain and increase movement, and I hope to keep making a big difference to people’s lives, by helping them get back to theirs.

Thanks to the support of all the fantastic people on my course, family, friends and clients that helped get me here.

Another great technique added to my skills to help reduce pain, and increase range of movement.
