🌼 Spring’s a great time to freshen up your home, and it’s also a perfect moment to make sure your space is safe for little explorers who are starting to crawl and move around.

As babies become more curious and mobile, everyday objects and surfaces become part of their world. A few simple steps can help reduce risks while you clean and organise.

Here are our tips for a safer spring clean:

• Store cleaning products safely: keep all sprays, detergents and polishes well out of reach in high cupboards or locked cabinets.
• Check low surfaces and floors: remove small items (coins, batteries, elastic bands) that could be choking hazards.
• Secure loose cords and wires: keep electrical and blind cords tucked away or secured.
• Use gentle, baby-safe cleaning products: strong chemicals can leave residues; choose mild, non-toxic options where possible.
• Lock away small parts and heavy decor: anything that can be pulled down or swallowed should be out of reach.

Did you know, many household cleaners can be irritating if touched or tasted by little hands. Always read labels and consider fragrance-free, non-toxic options if you have young children at home 🍃

Longer, lighter days are lovely - until it’s still bright at bedtime! Changing daylight can throw off sleep routines for babies children, but a few simple tweaks can help keep sleep on track.

Here’s how to make bedtime smoother as the clocks change:

🌅 Get outside earlier in the day - morning and afternoon daylight helps reset your child’s internal clock - bright light in the daytime = easier sleep at night.

📅 Stick to steady sleep times - similar bed and wake times every day help your little one’s body clock stay on track - even when evenings stay light longer.

📘 Set a calming bedtime vibe - wind-down routines with quiet activities and dim lights tell the brain it’s sleep time.

📵 Ease off screens before bed - screens and bright lights near bedtime can keep little brains switched on - dim the lights and enjoy cosy quiet time instead.

If you need help with your child's sleep, we are here to support you.

Spring bugs like Hand, Foot & Mouth are common in young children and can spread quickly in nurseries and schools.

Here are the symptoms to watch out for:

• Fever or sore throat
• Small spots or blisters on hands, feet or in the mouth
• Feeling tired or off their food

If your child has any of these symptoms, it's important to help prevent the spread, by:
• Encouraging regular hand-washing
• Cleaning shared toys and surfaces
• Keeping children at home if they’re unwell

Most cases get better with rest and fluids, but it’s important to know when to get help.

If you’re worried about your child or symptoms persist, contact NHS 111 or your local health service for advice.

• Model calm coping strategies (e.g. slow breathing)
• Praise effort and problem-solving
• Make time for connection and play
