St John Ambulance Cymru Pembrokeshire

St John Ambulance Cymru Pembrokeshire The First Aid Charity for Wales. Your donations help us to save lives here in Pembrokeshire.

As the nation's leading first aid charity, we offer training and support to people across Wales. Care to those in need is free but it costs us as a charity to provide it. We receive no core government funding and rely on private donations and income from first aid training to fund our charitable works.

PRESS RELEASE: St John Ambulance Cymru praises the Paramedics who also volunteer to support communities across Wales
--
St John Ambulance Cymru is highlighting the major contribution Paramedics make to supporting the charity’s work across Wales, as it marks International Paramedics Day 2025.

International Paramedics Day is celebrated each year on July 8th and the theme for this year’s celebration is ‘Unity and Community,’ which is particularly apt due to the continued close partnership working between St John Ambulance Cymru and the Welsh Ambulance Services University NHS Trust.

To herald the work of the Paramedics who give so generously of their spare time to support St John Ambulance Cymru, the charity’s will be sharing special thank you messages from senior leaders on social media, as well as highlighting the stories of some of the Paramedics who balance volunteering with their day-to-day lifesaving work.

St John Ambulance Cymru Chief Executive, Richard Lee said: “My 30-years to date as a registered Paramedic have seen me meet all sorts of amazing people and taken me to places I never imagined.

“The skills that Paramedics bring to our community of St John People are so important to support the work we do across the country, from major events at stadiums and arenas such as the recent Oasis concerts in Cardiff, to local celebrations on your doorstep.”

In 2024, the more than 90 Paramedics who volunteer with St John Ambulance Cymru dedicated a combined 5,284 hours of their spare time to the charity in a variety of roles, from being part of the teams that provide event first aid cover, to being Volunteer Alternative Responders.
