Most men with early prostate cancer don’t have symptoms. That’s why it’s important for men to understand their risk of developing this cancer at a younger age, particularly those with a family history of prostate or related cancers.

FAMILY HISTORY & GENES - FACTS

👨‍👨‍👦 A man is 2.5 x more likely to develop prostate cancer if their father or brother has been diagnosed with it compared to those with no family history.

👨‍👧‍👧 A man’s risk of getting prostate cancer can also increase if their mother or sister has had breast cancer.

PERSONALISED GENETIC INSIGHTS

If you have a family history of cancer, talk to your GP or clinician to find out how you can access genetic testing to help you understand your risk of developing prostate cancer. We currently partner with many healthcare professionals across the UK to offer this testing service.

With this information you can make certain lifestyle changes to lower your risk, access regular screening at an earlier stage, or have preventative treatment. Helping you to live a longer, healthier life.

⚽ Good luck to The Joshua Tree and all the participants in their Corporate Football Tournament today. ⚽

We were delighted to have been able to support this event by introducing The Joshua Tree to our friends at Nantwich Town Football Club for use of the club’s fantastic facilities for this tournament.

5-a-side teams will go head-to-head to help raise funds in support of families affected by childhood cancers.

Men’s Health Week encourages men across the UK to prioritise their health and seek preventative care. Something which is very close to our hearts here at Everything Genetic and is central to the genetic testing services we offer.

Let’s take prostate cancer for example.

- 1 in 8 men in the UK will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.

- More than 52,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year.

- It mainly affects men over 50 and risk increases with age.

- A man’s risk is higher if they have a family history of prostate cancer.

By accessing genetic risk testing for prostate cancer, such as Antegenes Prostate and the Color Multi-Cancer Panel, you can make certain lifestyle changes to lower your risk, access regular screening from an earlier stage, and have preventative treatment. Helping you to live a longer, healthier life.

This week is Men’s Health Week.

Organised by the Men’s Health Forum, it aims to raise awareness about the health challenges faced by men and promote strategies for better physical and mental well-being.

Aims to help UK men to:

🩺 Prioritise their health.
👨‍⚕️ Seek preventative care.
💬 Engage in conversations about important health issues.

This year the Forum is raising awareness about the impact of the internet of men’s health.

Whilst there are some health benefits of being able to access health information or deliver and receive health services online (some brilliant resources and services delivered online for healthcare providers and patients in the cancer space), the Forum is focussing on some of the downsides of the internet for men such as overconsumption and gambling.

The team at Everything Genetic are all geared up and ready to meet healthcare professionals at next week's Genomics and Precision Medicine Expo at Oncology Professional Care.

Come and meet our team on stand GPM52 to understand more about how genetic testing can help to prevent cancers such as breast, ovarian, prostate and colorectal, as well as our prognostic, diagnostic and theranostic tests to help improve patient outcomes and save lives.

We're also very excited to be able to talk to you about a new assay that we have launched, a 12 Gene Breast Cancer Panel. A service which is provided through a UK laboratory for quicker results turnaround and available at a lower price than comparable tests.

Her organisation, knowledge and motivation to the wider team has helped to successfully launch our first ever assay.
