Very sad to hear this. I wish Schumacher College every success in its efforts to become independent of the short sighted Dartington Hall Trust. Not all values are measurable and not all measurements can be calculated in monetary terms. Schumacher College has positively influenced countless people and communities both globally and locally and in these times of imbalance where, as Psychiatrist Iain McGilchrist says, our civilisation is dangerously dominated by left hemisphere approaches, the right hemisphere holistic approach of Schumacher College is needed more urgently than ever.

This points out what is wrong with many people's thinking including sometimes mine. Lack of rigour allows us to hold beliefs that we don't fully understand. Both the "what" and often the "why" too. In the comments below I also share a link to a truly remarkable book which has helped me and many others understand why facts very often fail to persuade. The book in question by David McRaney entitled "How Minds Change - The New Science of Belief, Opinion and Persuasion" ought to be read widely by all those who want a better world to emerge including both Monbiot and Liosatos though I suspect the former will be aware of it and the latter won't be.
