It was a muddy Monday at Lainey's Care Farm for Keelie and Ellie where they were on the go all day! 🥾🐑

They started with the basics: feeding the chickens and ducks, and putting down fresh hay for their beds. Then, they went to see the donkeys and goats before walking up the field to check on the sheep. There’s a new ram with the flock right now, easily identified by the orange marks on the sheep. He’s certainly been keeping himself busy! 🙊

Keelie and Ellie helped herd the sheep from the top of the field back down to the pen, then picked apples to give as treats to the pigs and chickens. To finish the day, they headed back to the quiet room to join Tess and start making little stuffed mice ready to sell at the Christmas event 🎄

If you’re reading this thinking, 'someone I love would really enjoy that, if they had a bit of help to do it safely,' send us a message, and we can talk about what that support could look like 💜

International Men’s Day: looking after men’s health 🫂

Men’s health doesn’t always get much airtime, especially with Christmas chaos and concerns just around the corner. International Men’s Day is a good point in the year to pause and check how things are going – for you, or for someone you care about.

Small changes can often be the first sign that something's not quite right, and these could show up through:
- Sleeping much more or much less.
- Feeling more irritable, flat or withdrawn
- Losing interest in usual routines or hobbies.
- Avoiding GP appointments or health checks

If several of these sound familiar, in yourself or someone close to you, it’s worth noting what’s changed and mentioning it to a GP, nurse or another professional you trust. If you’re worried about someone’s immediate safety, contact emergency services or NHS 111. Samaritans are available 24/7 on 116 123.

Continuity of Care Services provides care at home in Maidstone and across Kent. If you’d like to talk through support at home for yourself or someone you know, call 01622 809881 or send us a message 💜

We wanted to share that Oliver, one of our clients, and his mum Carol were featured in BBC Kent news this week! 💜

Oliver is 22 and has cerebral palsy and epilepsy. Before The Point’s new SEND facility opened in Tonbridge, he was travelling over an hour each way to Canterbury. The journey was exhausting and his needs couldn’t be met there.

As Carol said: ‘Without this new facility, he’d have nowhere to go.’

Oliver now attends The Point locally, learning catering, and making new friends! We’re incredibly proud of our team for playing their part in making this possible for Oliver and Carol.

The Point is part of a £1.8m project to expand the SEND provision at The Oaks Specialist College.

Today, we remember the heroes who gave their tomorrow for our today.

We reflect not only on the battles fought, but on the love, hope, and humanity that rose from their sacrifice.

At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them ❤️

Wishing everyone a fa-boo-lously fun and considerate Halloween!👻

As you head out trick-or-treating tonight, please show kindness by visiting only houses that are decorated. This helps ensure that everyone in our community, especially elderly or vulnerable neighbours who might prefer a quiet night, feels safe, comfortable, and respected at home.

Let's make tonight a treat for the whole neighbourhood!🎃

REMINDER: Clocks Fall Back TONIGHT! What It Means for Care Routines

Don't forget! Tonight at 2am (early hours of Sunday 26th October), the clocks go back one hour. While most of us enjoy the extra hour in bed, time changes can disrupt those receiving care, especially individuals living with dementia or those who value the continuity of routine.

Quick tips to support your loved one through the change:

🕐 Tomorrow, stick to visual cues – Use daylight and meal times as anchors rather than focusing on what the clock says

☀️ Get outdoors early – Morning sunlight helps to naturally reset the body clock

🌙 Keep bedtime routines consistent – Maintain the same evening routines to provide continuity

💬 Communicate calmly – Gently explain the time change if needed, using simple language and visual aids

At Continuity Care Services, our carers are trained to maintain consistency and comfort through transitions like these, ensuring your loved one feels secure no matter what the clock says.

Set your clocks back before bed tonight! ⏰

What activities bring the biggest smiles to your day?👇

Abbie loved her time at the Sarah Terry Club, where she explored colourful rice, soft pom poms, and tiny animals. Sensory play isn't just enjoyable (as Abbie's big smile indicates!); it also has scientific backing, helping develop vital neural pathways that support problem-solving, language, and fine motor skills.

For families caring for loved ones at home, simple sensory activities can be set up using affordable materials; you can try experimenting with:
- Dried rice or beans with scoops and containers
- Cotton balls, fabric scraps, or ribbon pieces
- Water play with floating objects
- Playdough or kinetic sand for tactile exploration

What matters the most is nurturing a warm and accepting environment. Real growth happens when everyone feels safe and encouraged, and they can freely explore and celebrate their unique ways of engaging with the world.

At Continuity of Care Services, we’re passionate about focusing on your strengths and celebrating what you can do. If you’re interested in exploring support options that prioritise your preferences, feel free to give us a call anytime. We’re here to listen and help!

Continuity of Care Services

We aim to provide a service which allows our clients to live safely and securely in their own homes and to enhance their lifestyle to help them to be independent and comfortable.

Our approach is based around the idea of working with our clients. We provide the level of care which you think you need rather than according to some pre-set plan.

Often the care needs are first identified by relatives, particularly in the case of older clients, and we always consult everybody concerned when putting together a care plan for your loved one. We also report back regularly on problems and successes to ensure that everyone who needs to know, including social services and medical professionals, is kept in the loop regarding a client’s welfare.

Experience has taught us that every client has a different set of care needs. We also know that care requirements can change over time. We aim to approach every situation on an individual basis because we are aware that what works for one person will not be appropriate for another.
