Low mood and the body
Waking up each morning, bone tired. Not just “I need a coffee” tired, but heavy, slow, like your body is carrying something you can’t quite name. The kind of tired, where every step you take, feels like wading through mud.
You go through the motions, shower, get dressed, show up, but your body feels it.
Your shoulders hold tension you didn’t notice building. Your chest feels tight or shallow. You’re exhausted, even when you’ve rested.
Simple tasks take more energy than they should.
You might feel foggy, unmotivated, or quietly overwhelmed.
Low mood doesn’t just live in your thoughts.
It lives in your body too. It can look like:
• Constant tiredness
• Aches or tension
• Changes in sleep or appetite
• Low energy or motivation
• Feeling disconnected or “flat”
And it can feel confusing… especially when life on the outside seems “okay.”
If this feels familiar, there are small ways to begin supporting yourself:
• Gently move your body (even a short walk counts)
• Step outside and get some natural light
• Take a few slow, steady breaths to calm your system
• Keep your expectations realistic - doing something small is still something
• Talk to someone you trust, even if it feels hard
You don’t have to fix everything at once.
But you also don’t have to carry this alone. 🌻
Counselling gives you space to pause, understand what your body and mind are trying to tell you, and find ways to feel lighter, calmer, and more connected again.
Get in touch for a free, no pressure, telephone consultation, if you’d like to talk about support.
