You might feel like you’re losing your teenager right now. They stay in their room. They don’t talk like they used to. Everything turns into an argument or silence and you’re left wondering:

What’s going on with them? Did I do something wrong?

Often, underneath this is overwhelm, anxiety, or something they don’t yet have the words for.

Teenagers don’t always say “I’m struggling.”
Sometimes they show it through shutting down, anger, or pulling away.

🌻 Counselling can give them a space to talk, without pressure, without feeling judged, and without worrying about upsetting you.

If you’re worried about your teen, you’re not alone and support is available.

If you or your teen need support, I’m available for a free 20 minute telephone consultation. 🌻

Low mood and the body

Waking up each morning, bone tired. Not just “I need a coffee” tired, but heavy, slow, like your body is carrying something you can’t quite name. The kind of tired, where every step you take, feels like wading through mud.

You go through the motions, shower, get dressed, show up, but your body feels it.

Your shoulders hold tension you didn’t notice building. Your chest feels tight or shallow. You’re exhausted, even when you’ve rested.

Simple tasks take more energy than they should.
You might feel foggy, unmotivated, or quietly overwhelmed.

Low mood doesn’t just live in your thoughts.
It lives in your body too. It can look like:

• Constant tiredness
• Aches or tension
• Changes in sleep or appetite
• Low energy or motivation
• Feeling disconnected or “flat”

And it can feel confusing… especially when life on the outside seems “okay.”

If this feels familiar, there are small ways to begin supporting yourself:

• Gently move your body (even a short walk counts)
• Step outside and get some natural light
• Take a few slow, steady breaths to calm your system
• Keep your expectations realistic - doing something small is still something
• Talk to someone you trust, even if it feels hard

You don’t have to fix everything at once.
But you also don’t have to carry this alone. 🌻

Counselling gives you space to pause, understand what your body and mind are trying to tell you, and find ways to feel lighter, calmer, and more connected again.

Get in touch for a free, no pressure, telephone consultation, if you’d like to talk about support.

You wake up tired… even though you slept.

You get out of bed anyway. You brush your teeth, make a coffee, reply to messages. You go to work, smile at people, tick things off your list. From the outside, everything looks “fine.”

But inside, it’s heavy.

You feel flat. Disconnected. Like you’re watching your own life rather than living it. Small things feel harder than they should. Joy feels distant. And there’s a quiet question that lingers in the background:
“Why do I feel like this when nothing is ‘wrong’?”

So you keep going. Because you always have.
You show up for others. You carry on. You cope.
But coping isn’t the same as feeling okay.

If this feels familiar, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to keep carrying it quietly.

Counselling can offer a space where you don’t have to pretend. A place where you can slow down, make sense of what you’re feeling, and be heard without judgement. Together, we can gently explore what’s going on beneath the surface and find ways to help you feel more like yourself again.

You deserve more than just getting through the day. You deserve to feel it, enjoy it, love life

Get in touch for a free, no obligation telephone consultation if you’d like to discuss support.

🌻 Understanding Low Mood – Week 1: What is Low Mood?

Low mood isn’t always obvious—and it doesn’t always look like sadness.
For many people, it can show up in quieter, less recognisable ways:

• Feeling constantly tired or lacking energy
• Becoming more irritable or easily frustrated
• Losing interest in things you would usually enjoy
• Finding it harder to concentrate or stay motivated
• A general sense of not quite feeling like yourself

Low mood can come and go, and it’s something most of us will experience at different points in our lives. It can be linked to life events, stress, relationships, or sometimes appear without a clear reason at all.

Because it can feel subtle, it’s easy to dismiss or push aside—telling yourself to “get on with it” or that it’s “not that bad”. But these feelings still matter.

Taking time to notice and acknowledge how you’re feeling is an important first step. You don’t have to wait until things feel overwhelming to talk about it.

Final day - Day 14 – Closing & Invitation

Over the last two weeks we’ve talked about anxiety, burnout, boundaries, grief and self-compassion.

If something resonated with you, maybe that’s your sign.

You deserve support.
You deserve space.
You deserve to feel heard.

Day 13 – It’s Okay to Start Small

You don’t need to commit to “fixing everything.”

Just start with a conversation.

One session.
One step.

That’s enough.

🌻 14 Days of Wellbeing with Sunflower Counselling & Wellbeing

Day 9 – Grief Isn’t Linear

Grief doesn’t follow stages neatly.
It moves in waves.

Whether it’s loss of a loved one, relationship, job, identity — your feelings are valid.

There is no “right way” to grieve.
