New parents with a baby (or babies) who spent time in NICU:

*Would you like a space to talk about what happened with another parent who 'gets' the unique pressures of caring for a baby in hospital?

*Are you ready to find new understanding, resolution or peace with your experiences?

I have one available space this Saturday 2pm with me, Rebecca, for a free session at Birth Story Clinic - this is for NICU parents only, who have given birth within the last 7 years.

If you'd like more details or take up this offer, dm me or comment 'NICU' below.

It's Birth Trauma Awareness week. There are so many posts on statistics, etc. out there (shocking as always).

My message is this:

*it can be easy to doubt ourselves when our inner experience doesn't match up with what someone else is telling us, but you are the expert on your own lived experience and you can trust yourself to know when something hurts.

*healing is not always easy or straightforward, but it is possible.

*it's okay to offer yourself kindness--it's also okay that it can be hard to be kind to ourselves at times, go gently as you are able.

*healing happens in connection - find places where you are received with understanding and acceptance - if nothing else, put your bare feet on the earth (or lie down on the grass) and let the Earth cradle you, there is connection here too.

*what you need at one stage of your healing may not be what you always need - allow yourself to be where you are, and to take the next steps when you are ready.

If you'd like a space to share your story, where it will be held and received by someone who 'gets' the hardships of motherhood and birth, feel free to reach out. I'm here.

There is a bitter flavour to disrespect,
a slippery texture to subtle unkindness--
here is what I've learned:
I may be patient, but
I can also be discerning, and
I will no longer drink from that cup.

A little call to being discerning in relationship--authenticity is a gift, as is an open heart. Finding our way through to this isn't always easy. 🩵

Theme this week for birth story sessions is 'the utterly unexpected' - sometimes birth is not just not to plan, but not even in the same book.

Have you experienced a birth like this (as a parent ❤️ or as a birth professional 👍)?

If you are working to make sense of your birth, or would like a dedicated space to share your story in a new way to bring peace or a sense of resolution to it, I have room for a few more birth story tellers in July and August.

Looking forward to a summer of restoration and magic in Fill Your Cup - our focus for July is on restoring the energy of delight.

Parenting / caring can feel all consuming. I was reading today that flow happens when we are not overwhelmed or under-challenged and I had to laugh as I could see so much of my carer self in this: overwhelmed by the sheer volume, under-challenged by the mundanity of so many of tasks.

Parenting / caring is only a part of who we are - an important part, but only a part. We need spaces to honour ourselves and be seen beyond this part...but where that part is held with understanding too.

+Simple, restorative practice.
+Connection in community.
+Space to receive and be.

This is what Fill Your Cup is about. (If you'd like to join us, comment or dm me and I will reply.)

How do you want to feel?

January this year, this was the question I was asking myself, the question I’m asking you now: how do you want to feel? That was a tough question for me at the time, maybe it is for you too. Being a mother is work. It’s hard work of a kind that no one really tells you about, that nothing really prepares yourself for. It’s the kind of work that too often is erased (if we ever fully acknowledged the importance of it, that awareness would turn the world upside down). And it is a wealth of specialist knowledge, a training ground for the *highest* personal development and spiritual practice - because you know that that is? That is love - love in action, love in expansion, love in service. And yet... Motherhood can hurt. I guess that’s the transformation in it, but too many of us get stuck there, mired in the struggle. How do you want to feel? That’s what I was asking myself. I didn’t know, so I started small -- I started with what I actually was feeling. Trust me, those feelings weren’t the desired ones. But I was feeling, and noticing -- overwhelmed, exhausted. With each feeling I didn’t want to feel, came an awareness of something I did want to feel: organised, rested. I kept it simple at the start. When I had to make a choice, I came back to how I wanted to feel. Rested. Organised.

That was enough to start. Desire Map is a way to re-map your life starting from how it is you want to feel. I’ve done it. I’m ready to share it with you. Whether you’re feeling great or not so great in this moment, here’s my invitation to you - Come explore the Desire Map process - free access May 2019 https://www.onecommune.com/a/14459/LYw979fP #desiremap #rebalancingwoman #remapmotherhood #howyoufeelmatters #womanandmother
