Andrew, our practice pharmacist, is an invaluable member of our team who genuine cares about his patients and the practice. He consistently provides excellent support to both colleagues and patients, and his dedication makes a real difference every day.

**GP First - Patient Information**

We have our second drop in session on Thursday 4th June 11am-12pm and 2pm-3pm.

Our third and final drop in will be Monday 8th June 10am -4pm.

If you have any questions or concerns about our new system, that will go live on Monday 15th June, please come along and see us.

If you can't make Tuesday, don't worry, we will be posting more dates next week.

Following yesterdays communication regarding our new triage system. We would like to share some screenshots on what the new system will look like from 15th June 2026.

The system will be accessible via our website, the NHS App, a text link sent from the practice, and we will put a link on this page. The form can be accessed via a PC, laptop, tablet and smart phones.

The system is very easy to use; as easy as posting on Facebook.

For patients who cannot access the online form our reception team will be on hand to support and complete the form on their behalf.

We will be arranging drop-in sessions at the surgery for patients who would like to be shown how to use it. Dates for these sessions will be posted next week.

Once the form is submitted, a GP will look at it the same day and the practice will be in touch. This system will also come with online bookable appointments which our patients have been requesting for some time now.

We understand this is a significant change in how we operate, please be assured we are working hard to ensure we keep our patients fully informed and will support patients through the change.

**Patient Information - Please read**

From 15th June 2026 we will be changing the way patients contact the practice.

We will be introducing a new system called GP First, a system that ensures your medical concern is viewed by a GP the same day.

Dr Curwen has recorded a short video introducing the change. We also have some information on our website: https://westraintonsurgery.co.uk/

We will be posting more information in the weeks leading up to the 15th June to ensure all patients are aware and fully informed of the change.

Please note - only patients who do not have a mobile number on their record will receive a letter.

❤️ Last night we celebrated Claire ❤️

Claire is our incredible secretary who devastatingly has had to take early retirement due to ill health at the age of 44.

Claire was given a terminal diagnosis in September and is making us so proud every day, she is the epitome of strength.

Claire has been a secretary at West Rainton Surgery since 2014 and through the past 12 years has been a help and support to all patients and staff. A genuinely beautiful person who will help anyone. Someone who would make us smile daily and was a pleasure to be around in the practice.

Claire is more than just a colleague, she is a friend who holds a special place in all our hearts.

Thank you for all the memories, laughs and support you have given us all.

West Rainton Surgery is not the same without you Claire, but you will always be part of our team.
