Damien has raised £180 for Mencap!

‘I sold buns. I had party food and the van is 2024!’ - Damien.

Selling sweet treats (we hear the Biscoff cheesecake was a firm favourite) at Nostell Business Estate, Damien took the time to get to know his customers personally and let them know all about Mencap!

Damien really embraced telling everyone he met about himself and sharing his secret handshake! On top of this, he raised a whopping £180 for Mencap! 👏

After telling his friends at Monarch Vans how important vehicles are to him, they invited to him take a tour of their newest additions, which he throughly enjoyed! He also got invited to a Red Roots party as guest of honour!

We’re incredibly proud of Damien and his team for raising awareness and much needed funds for a very important charity with a worthy cause!

Thank you to everyone who donated and a huge well done to Damien!

The people we support at our Sunnywell service have been focussing on becoming more active, whilst still enjoying the treats in their life!

'On Tuesday, Mark and Adam did their usual Tuesday swim, but this time they really challenged themselves in support of Mental Health Awareness Week and did an incredible 40 lengths of the pool!

Although they were beginning to tire towards the end, with lots of encouragement they pushed on and were absolutely overjoyed with what they had accomplished. Needless to say, they enjoyed their full English afterwards and a restful afternoon in the garden.

We are also very proud of Joe, who has continued to walk a big hill near his house since the 8th of April. He has done this twice a day, every day!' - Angela, person we employ.

When asked what they like about swimming Adam told us, 'Yah good fun!' and Mark said 'Love swimming but I hope Man U win!' Joe said 'When I’ve done my walk, I have my treats!'

A huge well done to Adam, Joe, Mark and team Sunnywell!

👏👏👏

It’s Mental Health Awareness Week!

To celebrate the theme ‘Moving for Mental Health’ we’re sharing the inclusive ways the people we support regularly use movement to improve their wellbeing!

Person we support Matthew, has been working with his team to increase his exercise in ways that he enjoys, so that he can feel the benefits mentally and physically💪

‘Matthew really enjoys visiting various landmarks in the community and what better way to encourage movement and to focus on wellbeing, than working with him to do things he enjoys, like getting out and exploring on foot!

Our team at Sunnybank have worked with Matthew to produce a very person-centred support plan, introducing some extremely rewarding walk trails for Matthew, which he now goes on at least three times a week.

It’s amazing to see Matthew really enjoying nature and the fresh air and with the warmer days coming now, he can’t wait to go on more and see some more different sights.’ - Adam Pouton, Team Leader.

Matthew doesn’t want to quote this time, but he does want to share these pictures as part of his post!

Well done Matthew and team 👏👏👏

Damien has kicked-off his with support from the Castleford Tigers! 🐯🏉

'It was great to start my challenge today. It was good to see Castleford Tigers Players and walk around the stadium with them. Got a hat and a bag as well.' - Damien S.

Walking the first 7000 steps of a 49000 step challenge at the Jungle, Damien completed a lap of the pitch with players and spent some chill-out time with them in the dug-out!

'Damien was excited before he even went, speaking about it a few days leading up to it. The day of the event, he was excited to get dressed into his Castleford Tigers kit. He was giggling and smiling when we got there, constantly wanting to give a thumbs up and the players made him feel really comfortable, talking about his favourite subjects and learning his handshake routine.' Adam Pouton, Team Leader.

To help him raise money for the National Autistic Society, the Tigers are donating a signed shirt for him to raffle off. To donate to Damien and to be in with a chance of winning, please use this link:

👏 Yesterday we welcomed the Millennium Support team down to the ground to take part in Damien’s sponsored walk.

We invited him to take a De tour around the pitch and give him a well-earned rest in the new dugouts.

Thank you to the lads who joined in on the walk, Damien was thrilled and said, “It was great to start my challenge today. It was good to see Castleford Tigers players and walk around the stadium with them. Got a hat and a bag as well”
