Today’s 60-mile sportive around the beautiful Belvoir Castle area gave me exactly what I needed—fresh air, movement, challenge, and time to think 🚴‍♀️✨

I’ve cycled for years and have many miles under my belt, but long rides always bring reflection. You spend a lot of time in your own head, and sometimes the biggest thoughts come when you’re just turning the pedals.

Today I found myself thinking about my own menopause journey. Looking back, I wish I had understood in my early 40s what I know now about hormones, menopause, and long-term health. If I had realised it was “a thing,” maybe I would have sought help sooner. Maybe it could have helped preserve my hip joints and maybe I wouldn’t have endured years of excruciating pain.

I cycled 1000 miles in 2 weeks around Quebec, Canada 🇨🇦—in pain. I kept pushing through, not fully understanding what was happening in my body. Eventually, I went on to have bilateral total hip replacements.

I’ve cycled all the way through my menopause journey—days I loved it, days I hated it—but I never gave up.

Menopause is so much more than hot flushes. Hormones impact joints, muscles, recovery, energy, sleep, mood, metabolism, and long-term health.

If I knew then what I know now, I would have got support much sooner.

That’s why Rise & Thrive exists—to have these conversations, to educate, to support, and to help women realise they do not have to just “push through.”

Keep moving. Keep asking questions. Keep advocating for yourself.

✨Reflection - I’ve been doing this a lot more lately.
To me it’s less about “emptying” your thoughts and more about changing how you relate to them. You don’t need silence or perfection—just a bit of space to observe without reacting.

✨Every morning I go out early to get the morning light - sitting comfortably letting my attention settle on my breathing. Not forcing it—just noticing the rhythm. When thoughts come (and they will), not fighting them.

✨ reflect gently:

* What am I feeling right now?
* Where do I notice it in my body?
* Can I allow it to be here without fixing it?

✨Calmness often comes not from control, but from allowing things to be as they are, even briefly.

I’ve added a colourful picture of this morning’s smoothie because honestly… it was too beautiful not to share 😍🥤

Sometimes the simplest habits make the biggest difference.

Good nutrition isn’t about perfection—it’s about consistency.

Starting the day with protein, healthy fats, fibre and nutrients helps support:
✨ Energy
✨ Hormones
✨ Mood
✨ Metabolism
✨ Muscle maintenance
✨ Blood sugar balance
✨ Healthy ageing

And yes… timing matters too.

Late-night eating can impact sleep, recovery, digestion and metabolism, so wherever possible I try to focus on nourishing earlier and supporting my body’s natural rhythm.

Today’s smoothie = simple, colourful and packed with goodness 💚

Day off today… but lots of good things happening and some fab people to catch up with 👌

Starting the morning with a hearty breakfast packed with greens and protein:

🥦 Broccoli
🫛 Peas
🌱 Asparagus
🥚 3 eggs
🧀 A little cheese
🫘 And yes… a dollop of barbecue beans because balance matters 😂

I’m definitely no foodie—and I’m perfectly happy with that.

For me, it’s simple:
Food first. Always.

Real food.
Protein.
Fibre.
Greens.
Consistency.

Supplements can support and add—but they should never replace the foundations.

Midlife health, menopause support, strength, hormones, energy, mood, metabolism… it all starts with what we do most often, not what we do occasionally.

Nothing fancy.
Nothing extreme.
Just nourishing your body properly.

Strong body.
Clear mind.
Better energy.

So many women spend months—even years—feeling “not quite right” and wondering if it’s just them.

Brain fog.
