My coach reminded me to get out in nature recently (one of my favourite things to do) and I’ve been thinking about why being out in nature feels so effortless, calming and mindful

It’s more than just getting some fresh air

Nature gives my busy mind a break

The sounds, the smells, the way light moves through trees, it always gently pulls me into the present moment without me even trying

When im out in nature my thoughts slow down, my senses wake up, and I get a little distance from all the noise of daily life. Sometimes a quiet park, a bird singing or a bit of open sky is all it takes for me to feel calm, grounded, and connected to myself again

Who else feels the benefits of nature?

Today has been a day of waiting around in queues, traffic queues and pharmacy queues

But it reminded me of the saying we are exactly where we are supposed to be when we are supposed to be ther

After 50 mins in traffic I met a friend for a coffee and we had a great catch up and our weekly therapy session 😊

Whilst waiting in the 4th queue in the 4th pharmacy I tried (one I dont normally use) i met a lady who could possibly help / give some guidance on a problem I've had for months

And then when visiting my Mum I decided the parking spot was too tight so went further down the street. On the way to her house I found Connors blanket we lost weeks ago! Other than soaking wet its as it was 😊 if I hadnt of changed my mind i wouldn't have walked past it. Mystery solved!

Just a little reminder of the universe guiding us ✨️

What a lovely Sunday ☀️ football this morning ⚽️ and an afternoon to myself

I havent been making time for me lately and its certainly been showing up in ways I'd rather not feel

So this afternoon took myself off to the beach, had fish bites and chips 😋, enjoyed the views, fed the birds and completed my weekly review in my journal

So much time to reflect, using that reflection to see where ive been going wrong and what needs to change

My biggest reflection was that I am spending way too much time trying to control the uncontrollable. A recipe for disaster within mental health

The only thing in this world I can control is me and my actions, everything else is out of my hands

We had a great first session back at the group today 😀 we also welcomed a new member ✨️

We did some journalling, talked about the effects of stress and how we can help ourselves in fight or flight mode and ended up with a short body scan

It was lovely to see all your faces again 😀

I'll post the next few dates later 😘

I have some great news!

The group will be back up and running as of next week

Thursday 20th November

The sessions will be running twice a month, usually the 1st and 3rd week of the month. Ill post each week we are running

We have a slight change of location. It will now be at The Duffryn Community Centre

I cant wait to get back, I've missed it. It helps me as much as the members

As this is a mental health page I wanted to share a part of my journey that I dont really talk about and feel it isnt talked about enough

It's one for you ladies and men if you want to learn a bit of info

Ive been suffering massively at time of the month for a long time now, im thinking possibly pmdd

Luckily I dont get the usual physical stomach cramps but what I have been experiencing more intensely each month is a huge change in my mental health. Half of each month im ok and them the other half im on a downward spiral until im floored physically, mentally and most of all emotionally, which makes daily life feel so hard, the smallest tasks become completely overwhelming only adding fuel to the cycle of the spiral into anxiety and depression. Add in the bowel issues, migraines, headaches and pure exhaustion and its all a recipe for disaster with my mental health

It's debilitating

As you all know I try and live as medication free as possible as I dont believe they helped my mental health symptoms, antidepressants or the pill at the time

But im wondering now although the antidepressants didn't help my general everyday mood,probably because of ADHD, did they mask the PMS symtoms, as they've progressively got worse since I came off them or is this just because im getting older?

So my questions for you ladies are...

If you suffer/suffered every month, what has helped you manage the symptoms?

Do you take medication/supplements for them? If so what and has it helped?

Im at a time in my life i should be thriving but this is holding me back

Any tips or advice would be much appreciated 😘

Sometimes life feels easy Sometimes it feels totally overwhelming

Depression, Anxiety, panic and stress have all taken their form lately and its been difficult to navigate

Sometimes these feelings come out of the blue with a bang, other times they build slowly then heighten and if your a woman and its that time of the month, then everything can feel 100× worse

Journaling, gratitude, mindfulness, meditation, cold showers, nutrition and hydration, connection, each won't fix you on their own

Action is the only way to help yourself but sometimes executing that action seems the most difficult thing to do

I remind myself that these times are temporary as nothing is permanent with emotions. We can change them, not without difficultly though

Sit with the emotion
Feel it, if you dont it'll keep coming back
Make a plan to help you feel better
And do your best to take action

All the things I listed above that won't fix you on their own...they help. Do a small amount of one, link them to another and try and do it daily

Eventually these feelings will pass and then....we roll with the calm
