🌱️Have you ever felt like you’ve quietly...........disappeared from your own life?

Not in a dramatic way.

🫂Just slowly — while holding everything together for everyone else.

I’ve been reading about what’s being called a “hidden mental health crisis” among women in midlife — and honestly, it’s something I see reflected in so many of my sessions with clients.

Women juggling:

– ageing parents
– grown-up children who still need support
– relationship changes or loss
– work pressures
– and the emotional + physical impact of menopause

All at the same time.

And yet… so many don’t ask for help. Not because they don’t need it. But because they’ve spent a lifetime being the one others rely on.

One report found that almost two-thirds of women over 50 are struggling with their mental health — but many aren’t reaching out for support 😔

That’s not resilience.
That’s silence.

So if this is you — or someone you love — here’s your reminder:

You don’t have to earn support by breaking first.
You don’t have to wait until it’s unbearable.
And you are not “too late” to be cared for.

I’m curious — does this resonate with you or someone in your life

My generation had great role models, free university and the morning-after pill. We should be running the world. Instead, two-thirds of us are facing mental health problems – and it’s not all about the menopause

Today is International Day of Happiness 💙😊

Remember happiness isn’t about being positive all the time—it’s about allowing yourself to feel, process, and grow 🌱✨

Real happiness often comes from:

• Being heard 🗣️
• Feeling understood 🤝
• Letting go of what weighs you down 🎈
• Creating space for self-compassion 💛

If today feels light—embrace it.
If it feels heavy—be gentle with yourself.

You deserve support, healing, and moments of joy 🌈

Thursday Therapy Reads 📚 Why Zebras Don’t Get Ulcers by Robert Sapolsky 🦓

As a therapist, I love this book because it explains stress in a way that’s smart, relatable, and weirdly comforting.

Sapolsky breaks down why humans stay stressed long after the “danger” is over, while zebras basically freak out, survive, and move on. Meanwhile, we replay emails, overthink conversations, and stress about things that haven’t even happened yet.

This book is such a good reminder that our bodies were built to handle short-term threats, not nonstop psychological pressure. A fascinating read if you want to understand anxiety, stress, and why your nervous system acts the way it does.

🍀 St Patrick’s Day Reflection 🍀

“May you have the hindsight to know where you've been, the foresight to know where you’re going, and the insight to know when you’ve gone too far.”

Boundaries often begin with insight — noticing when something doesn’t feel right, when we’re stretched too thin, or when we’ve given more than we have to give.

Looking back helps us learn.

Looking forward helps us grow.

And insight helps us pause, reset, and protect our wellbeing.

This St Patrick’s Day, may you honour the wisdom that helps you care for yourself as much as you care for others. 🍀

Neurodiversity Celebration Week always means a lot to me 💛

As a therapist specialising in neurodiversity, I have the privilege of working with incredible neurodivergent people every day. People whose minds work differently — and beautifully — in ways that bring creativity, depth, honesty, innovation and unique perspectives to the world.

For many of the individuals I work with, life hasn’t always felt like a celebration. It can involve years of feeling misunderstood, trying to fit into systems that weren’t designed with them in mind, or being told their differences are something to “fix”.

But neurodiversity isn’t a flaw. It’s a natural and valuable part of human diversity.

This week is about recognising and celebrating the strengths, talents, and perspectives that neurodivergent people bring to our communities. It’s also about continuing to push for understanding, acceptance, and environments where people can thrive as they are — not by masking who they are.

I celebrate neurodiversity because I see the courage, resilience and brilliance in the people I work with every single day.

And that absolutely deserves to be celebrated. 🌈

A mother’s love never really leaves. I miss my mum every day, but I see her love living on in the children who made me a mum 🤍

It’s okay if today feels both heavy and happy.

Whether you’re celebrating, remembering, grieving, or somewhere in between — be gentle with yourself today.

Take the day slowly, breathe deeply, and give yourself the same kindness you give to everyone else. 🤍

A gentle reminder before Mother’s Day 🤍

For some people, tomorrow will be filled with love and celebration.
For others, it might bring grief, longing, distance, or complicated feelings.

Maybe you’re missing your mum.
Maybe the relationship is difficult.
Maybe you’re navigating infertility, loss, or estrangement.
Maybe you’re grieving the mother you never had.

However tomorrow feels for you — that’s okay.

Some people are lighthouses in human form. 🕯️🌊

They don’t fix the storm.

They don’t steer the ship.

They simply stay steady…

shining long enough for someone lost in the dark to find their way home. ✨

If you’ve ever held space for someone, listened without judgment, or been a quiet light in someone’s hardest moment — you’ve been a lighthouse human. 🤍

And the world needs more of that kind of light.

📚 Thursday Therapy Reads
This week’s pick: ADHD Rapped Up! by Mr G (Jamie Gilbert).

A fun and engaging book that explains ADHD to kids using rap, rhythm, and colourful illustrations. It helps children understand that ADHD isn’t about being “naughty” or not trying hard enough — it’s about how their brain works. 🧠✨

Perfect for children with ADHD, and a great resource for parents, teachers and therapists wanting to start supportive conversations about attention, energy and emotions. 🎤💛
