Dr. Richard Majors Dr. Richard Majors is a Consultant Counselling Psychologist & Honorary Professor at the University of Colorado in the US.

He has been living and working in the UK for over 20 years and is founder & former editor of the Journal of African American Studies. Dr. Richard Majors is a specialists multicultural psychologist who specialises supporting black and Asian patients. He produced the first international handbook on Black community mental health, focussing on key issues including stereotypes in Mental health, misdiag

About me
My primary mission is to provide services that address the psychological and mental health needs of young people, adults and families from mainstream groups, multicultural communities and people of colour, who have been historically under-represented in gaining access to mental health or excluded altogether to services because of their race, gender, class, sexual orientation or disability. Therefore, my goal is to optimise and improve the emotional health and overall emotional well-being of these groups and provide an evidence-based and culturally competent clinical service that address the psychological and mental health needs of, young people, adults families, parents and carers. I have a wealth of knowledge and experience in the following areas: depression, anxiety disorders, gender dysphoria related issues, anger management, relationships difficulties, couples counselling, traumatic, stress management, addictions, attachment-related issues, domestic abuse, behavioural difficulties and teens in schools, bereavement/loss and separation, cultural heritage and mixed parentage issues, workplace-related problems, executive wellness coaching and life skills, personal development/self-esteem, adolescence group work, life transition and geriatric issues, hoarding and aftercare counselling among other areas. I have an interest in young people who have been excluded from school. As well, I have an interest in working with people with high functioning autism. COVID-19

Dr Majors is a esteemed scholar, honorary professor, a former Clinical Fellow and Post Doctorate at Harvard Medical School and registered counselling psychologist with HCPC. He is also a chartered psychologist and Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS). Dr Majors has over 30 years of experience as a clinician, providing therapeutic intervention, consultations and conducting psychological assessments. He has taught general Psychology, adolescent psychology, cultural Psychology, abnormal Psychology and adjustment among other courses. He has as well taught a short course on gender at Cambridge University

Dr Majors is an international trainer and consultant. He is the recipient of 2 Transfer of Innovation (TOI) Awards from the European Union (EU), for his innovative work on emotional literacy and emotional well-being. His Emotional literacy and Emotional wellness model is now is now being used in over 12 countries. In 2016 he was shortlisted, for the Medical Live Wire Global Award for his work in the field of psychology. He was again honoured for his outstanding work in the field of psychology and was bestowed with the prestigious global award from Medical Live Wire: “Psychology Professional of The Year”, 2018. In 2019 he received the Expert Witness Award from Lawyer Monthly Magazine, in recognition of his specialised knowledge and experience within the area of Trans-cultural Psychology.
