It is our human stress response caused by.
PERCEIVED danger
F.E.A.R False Evidence Appearing Real
Or REAL danger to health & wellbeing
Under nourished
Holding of breath
Tension
Stress
Actually physical or mental violence
Needs unmet
Etc.
Or a hormone imbalance such as
Adolescence
Pregnancy or post
Menopause
Going on or off the pill
Etc.
Because the mechanisms of anxiety stress response are
The need to fight, flight or freeze. Whichever you deem the most appropriate at the time.
Your🧠 & body gives you everything to do that, pumps stress hormones around your body, you'll feel the need to either act, so ❤ rate & blood pressure goes up & tension etc. To fight or run, or your body does the opposite so that you inact. May even protect you from the danger by disassociating you from it, as a way to shut it out.
Plus you'll have a sharp focus on what you think is the danger, & will be scanning for danger=negative what if thoughts.
Everyone is different & notices different things when anxious, you can imagine the worst of anything & can manifest tension anywhere in the body. Do these symptoms make more sense? Less fear?
To turn this stress response down you have to not act like its an emergency(DANGER) like
Fight it
Flight/run from it
Freeze/rabbit in the headlights
All indicates there IS a danger
INSTEAD
Show yourself you're not in immediate danger you're(SAFE)by doing what you wouldn't do in an emergency.
You wouldn't.
Stay
Breathe
Sip
Talk to yourself calmly
Try not to be afraid of the response(FEAR)is a cause for anxiety. Accept it's on for a reason you can work out what that cause is when you're calmer & the sensical part of the mind is back from retreat. That happens when you are turning stress response down with SAFE.
It's all normal. What's not normal & the real problems is the real causes. Which you can work on. Trying to face the fear takes practice.
A hormone imbalance needs time, &needs met until you're body rebalances
