General information

The Minster Church is centred on a group of lay and ordained people who lead the Minster Church in worship and mission. This group share in prayer (Morning Prayer, The Evening Office and The Eucharist) and study (The Boniface Group). This group serves and nurtures a range of individual congregations each of which is focused on a particular, normally eucharistic, gathering: The largest regular congregation is the Mid-morning Sunday congregation, a traditional parish congregation for all ages that meets at 9 30am for a service of Sung Eucharist. Once a month everyone worships together whilst on other weeks there is a Sunday School for the younger members. The Early Sunday congregation are a group, mostly of more senior years, whose focus for worship is a service of Holy Communion (according to the Book of Common Prayer) at 8am on Sunday mornings. The quiet Saturday Communion serves a smaller group of people for whom a quiet and intimate service nurtures their faith and experience of God. A Mid-week Communion takes place at Saint Lawrence Chapel and this serves a range of people, including those from other Christian communities in the town. This service uses the order from the Book of Common Prayer. There a number of House Eucharists that meet in peoples homes around the parish and provide a distinctive approach to the sacramental life of the Church A Meditative Eucharist with Prayers for Healing takes place monthly at Ivy House and Evensong at Saint Lawrence Chapel in the town centre also takes place once a month. Messy Minster is a chance, four or five times a year, for families to explore the Christian faith together; sharing in craft, worship and food. There are also a number of occasions in the year when the wider community is welcomed to the Minster; both for worship and other events. In addition to the focus on its own worshipping communities the Minster Community is involved in work with local Schools. As well as formal links with The Minster School, there are less formal links with Princecroft School and a historic link with Warminster School, which uses the Minster for regular worship. There is also an active pastoral ministry in nursing and care homes and members of the Ministry Team are involved in various aspects of hospital and prison chaplaincy. Members of the Minster Community are actively involved in wider community groups such as Churches Together in Warminster, Warminster Community Radio and the Warminster Foodbank. Together with other Churches in Warminster we are investigating whether there is the potential for a Street Pastors scheme in the town and we are partners in a number of other discussions aimed at serving the needs of the wider community.
