🚨 High-Risk Foot Conditions – Why You Need a Podiatrist! 🚨
Did you know that certain foot conditions require specialist medical care? If you or a loved one have diabetes, poor circulation, or a weakened immune system, routine foot care can become dangerous in the wrong hands!
Podiatrists specialise in high-risk foot care to help prevent serious complications like infections, ulcers, and even amputations. If you have any of these conditions, don’t risk insufficient and potentially unqualified treatment—seek expert care!
🔍 Why does this matter? Check out the risks:
Condition 🦶 Risk ⚠️ Potential Consequences ❌
Diabetes 🩸 Poor circulation, neuropathy Non-healing ulcers → Infection → Amputation
Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) 🏥 Reduced blood flow Ischemia → Gangrene → Amputation
Immunosuppression 🦠 Reduced ability to fight infection Minor cut → Sepsis or bone infection (osteomyelitis)
Neuropathy 🧠 Loss of sensation Undetected wounds → Severe infections
Foot Ulcers 👣 High risk of infection Mismanagement → Amputation or systemic infection
Foot Health Practitioners (FHPs) vs. Podiatrists – Know the Difference! 🚨
Did you know that Foot Health Practitioners (FHPs) are not trained to the same level as podiatrists? While podiatrists undergo around 2,000 hours of supervised clinical training, an FHP may complete as little as 0-80 hours—often with little to no hands-on experience!
⚠️ Why does this matter?
• FHPs are NOT regulated by the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC)—the body responsible for protecting the public.
• They may not be legally covered to treat serious foot conditions like diabetes, peripheral arterial disease (PAD), or immunosuppression-related complications.
• They may lack the medical training to diagnose, manage, or safely treat high-risk patients, putting your health at risk.
🚫 Don’t take chances with your foot health! Always choose an HCPC-registered podiatrist for expert care!
