We’re delighted that Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Primary Care has been shortlisted for the HSJ Digital Awards 2026, recognising the work of its Digital Champions Team in the Digital Equality, Diversity and Inclusion category.

The team’s innovative, community based approach has helped more people access and use the NHS App by meeting residents where they are, offering one to one support, creating multilingual resources, and working closely with GP practices and partners. This national recognition highlights the power of inclusive digital innovation and strong partnership working across our system. Congratulations to everyone involved.

Good to meet with Simon Trickett, Chief Executive of NHS Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care Board, to discuss improving healthcare provision across Coventry North West.

I was pleased to hear about progress on plans for a new neighbourhood health centre that will serve parts of the constituency, and positive developments around pharmacy access in Tile Hill.

We also discussed concerns I’ve been hearing from residents about the closure of local eyecare services such as CUES, and the importance of ensuring accessible eyecare across our community.

We are proud to share that the Trauma Vanguard Team has won the Partnership Award at the National Children and Young People’s Awards on Friday 3 October 2025.

The award recognises Margaret Conway, Vanguard Partnership Lead, for her outstanding leadership in driving innovation within Coventry Children’s Services. In a competitive category with 16 finalists, Margaret and Beckie’s presentation and interview stood out for their impact and insight.

Margaret was commended by the lead judge for sharing a powerful example of how a partnership approach - involving Practice Educators, Occupational Therapists, and Speech and Language Therapists - helped transform the life of a young person supported through the Positive Directions programme.

This achievement highlights the strength of collaboration across services and the positive difference it makes to children and young people in Coventry.

We are reviewing how gluten-free (GF) foods are prescribed for people diagnosed with coeliac disease or dermatitis herpetiformis.

- The NHS currently spends £240,000 per year on these prescriptions.
- At present, a limited range of GF bread and mixes (8–10 units per month) can be prescribed.
- As GF foods are now widely available in supermarkets, the ICB is considering whether prescriptions should continue.

No decision has been made. We are seeking people’s views before any changes are considered.
