Some great before and after work from clients today!
Our ponies must have been having a great time rolling about in the mud last night!

There’s something very special about spending time with ponies. When you’re with them, the outside world seems to quieten down. Worries feel a little lighter, breathing slows, and for a moment you can simply be present.

Whether it’s riding, grooming, walking beside them or just standing quietly in the field, ponies have a wonderful way of helping people feel calm, safe and free.

Weekend riding and groundwork at South Downs Equine Therapy.

Weekends at South Downs Equine Therapy are always a fun time on the yard. They offer space for clients to slow down, feel safe and enjoy a mixture of riding and groundwork activities, depending on what feels right for the individual that day.

Some sessions involve heading out for a ride across the beautiful Downs, building confidence, balance and trust between horse and rider. Other sessions focus on groundwork grooming, leading, learning about horse behaviour and aome seasons are full of friendly competition and games with siblings.

No two sessions are ever quite the same, but they all share the same goal, creating meaningful moments of connection between people and horses.

It’s these quiet, powerful interactions that make weekends at South Downs Equine Therapy so special 💛🐴

Why riding is good for children …

When children ride, their core is constantly stabilising.

Each stride and movement from the horse requires:
Micro adjustments from the hips.
Engaged tummy muscles.
Active spinal alignment.
Shoulder stability.

Its strength training in disguise.

‼️ A3 Northbound is blocked! 🚫

If you’re coming to us this morning please be aware that there has been a fire on the a3 so you may want to take an alternative route if you travel that way.

Research matters because one well-designed study can change practice, improve welfare, and transform lives. Funding research fuels that ripple effect.

Great start to the first week back.
The sun even made an appearance today but the wind reminded us that winter is quite ready to leave yet!
A lovely mix of sessions and plenty of happy, smiley faces and horses that are definitely feeling good.
