🐈‍⬛ Proud to be certified as a Cat Friendly Veterinary Professional! 🐈‍⬛

So what does this mean to you and your cats?

🐾 Physiotherapy can be a very beneficial treatment for our feline friends as well as our canines, but it is very important to remember that they are not the same as dogs!

🐾 As a cat friendly practitioner, I have undertaken further training to expand my knowledge of feline behaviour, social structure and handling to help them have as comfortable and stress free treatment as possible.

🐾 This helps your cat get the best out of their sessions, as well as them getting the optimum home programmes for their comfort and mobility.

I look forward to welcoming more feline friends in the near future! 🐈

🐾 Gait Analysis 🐾

Why is Gait analysis included in physiotherapy checks?

- Gait analysis is a key factor when gathering an image of your pet’s current condition. When assessing gait, we are looking at:

🐾 Posture: How is your pet’s head carriage and topline positioning?

🐾 Active Range of Motion: How well is your pet flexing and exending their joints in movement?

🐾 Striding and planes of movement: Are your pet’s limbs falling out of line or are they coming up short when reaching forwards?

🐾 Lameness: Is your pet using a limb less or offloading it? This could be a sign of pain

🐾 Exaggerations in pelvic movement: Is your pet presenting a straight pelvic movement, or can we detect a dip or overreach on one side?

All of these points on the gait analysis checklist help us paint a picture of how your dog is moving on a daily basis and how we can develop a suitable plan to help to make improvements.

Gait analysis is used throughout treatment to monitor your pets progress. If you have noticed any changes in your pet’s movement and would like some more information, please contact us at:

Did you know that 80% of dogs over the age of 8 show symptoms of osteoarthritis?

Dogs with arthritis may present the following signs:

🐾 Slow getting up and down
🐾 Struggling to climb stairs and furniture
🐾 Stiff in movement or unwilling to run and jump
🐾 Excessive licking of joints and struggling to stay comfortable when laying

Physiotherapy is an amazing tool for helping keep joints and surrounding tissues comfortable, keeping your dog that little bit happier through their senior years!

Our clinics treat dogs with Arthritis in the comfort of their own home in Hampshire and West Sussex. If you are interested in how physio could help your dog, give us a call or visit us at www.furapy.uk
