Alma Hospital Trust

Alma Hospital Trust Our Alma Bi Hospital is an amazing place that delivers free medical services in a disadvantaged, remote, rural area in Hafizabad, Pakistan.

The Alma Bi Hospital operates in District Hafizabad, Pakistan. It's an amazing place that treats thousands of poor people each year for free. It owes its existence to Mohammed Younis (MBE), Watford postman and a remarkable individual who spent ten years campaigning to raise the £1million it cost to build. It's now a unique haven of western medicine amidst rural poverty, serving a population of around 150,000 people. The hospital is funded entirely by charitable donations, mostly through The Alma Hospital Trust in the UK. It's eschewed government or corporate support in order to ensure its integrity and high standards of operation. But these ethics clearly come at a cost and there's a constant struggle to raise enough money to keep the hospital going.

At just four years old, little Abdullah’s world was slipping into darkness. Once full of laughter and curiosity, he struggled to see—even his mother’s smile became a blur. His parents, desperate but unable to afford treatment, heard about the free eye surgeries at Alma Bi Hospital’s annual eye camp. With the help of kind villagers, they brought him to our 2024 camp. Days later, after a successful procedure, as his bandages were removed, Abdullah’s face lit up. He stretched out his tiny hands, touching his parents’ faces as if seeing them for the first time. Grateful beyond words for this urgent, life-changing treatment, his family thanked the hospital team for restoring not just his sight, but his future.

Through the kindness and generosity of our donors, we have been able to continue to organise life-changing operations and provide free medical care, as well as much-needed medicines to thousands of disadvantaged people every year.

During this holy month, you can do something amazing with your , or donations, knowing that every penny goes directly to providing free medical services to those in need.
