The first people to celebrate the New Year is the Kiritimati Island, Caroline Atoll, one of the 33 islands that make up the Republic of Kiribati (pronounced KIH-rih-bahss).ironically the islands of Niue and American Samoa, which are southwest of Kiribati in the South Pacific, are the last inhabited places to celebrate the New Year. not far in distance (although i wouldn't want to swim it!) they are a whole day apart.

Whether you are starting your day, your career, or your healing journey "later" than the person next to you—it doesn't make your progress any less real. Comparing your Chapter 1 to someone else’s Chapter 20 is the fastest way to lose your peace. Trust your own clock. 🕰️

The sun doesn’t rise at the same time for everyone, everyone's timing is different.

There is something deeply grounding about the first light of 2026.

While the world often pushes us to "hit the ground running," the sunrise reminds us of a different pace. It doesn’t rush; it doesn’t skip steps. It simply arrives, steady and inevitable, offering a quiet moment of clarity before the noise of the day takes over.
In 2026, let’s commit to being as kind to ourselves as the morning sun is to the earth. You don't have to be "at your best" the moment your eyes open. You just have to show up.
