There’s something unspeakably beautiful and life affirming about giving birth with confidence and a deep sense of trust in your body, your baby and in the present moment as it unfolds.
This was my experience of birthing the second time around.

I credit HypnoBirthing 💯 with helping me have a totally different experience from my first experience of giving birth. Back then I was caught up in uncertainty and had no clue of how perfectly my body and baby were designed to birth gently and easily and that actually I could let go and trust in this design.
The second time around, my mind was quiet, my central nervous system was settled and I knew that I had everything I needed to support me throughout. It was truly a magical experience that myself and my husband will be forever grateful for 💕🤰🏻💕

My HypnoBirthing Experience

I gave birth to my two sons within 3 years of one another. The first time, I experienced uncertainty and anxiety throughout and this made it a very painful and stressful experience. Despite my husband’s best efforts to help me and the midwives’ words of encouragement, I was so not relaxed at all 😵‍💫
I was so excited to become a mum and fell completely in love with my baby son as soon as I laid eyes on him❤️but to be honest I felt completely exhausted. He meanwhile was very unsettled after the birth and it look a few weeks for him to fully settle🥹 I just assumed at the time that this was normal.

My second birth experience 3 years later came after I had had the good fortune to discover HypnoBirthing. My experience was complete the opposite - I overcame my fears, I felt calm and at ease because I knew exactly how to work with my body. My husband knew how best to support me and we made a great team.
The result?
A much more comfortable, empowering experience and the gentlest of arrivals into the world of our second baby boy who was such a laid back, calm baby right from the start. ✨💞

Zachary’s was the first HypnoBirth at Rotherham Hospital and none of the midwives who witnessed it could believe their eyes. They were excitedly discussing it for weeks afterwards according to a good friend of mine who worked within the Maternity service at the hospital at that time.

HypnoBirthing had such a life changing impact on me that I became determined to share its magic with others. So, I qualified as a HypnoBirthing practitioner during my maternity leave and I am honoured to have taught the course in South Yorkshire and online to hundreds of couples both in groups and privately.

I was so moved today to receive this beautiful testimonial from Lotta & Sam from Lancashire who attended my HypnoBirthing classes late last year🥹

They very recently welcomed their gorgeous baby son Finnley into the world ✨🩵✨

They describe how well the classes not only prepared them for labour and birth but how the positive ripples from their experience continue to extend out into their relationship with one another and with their baby after the birth 🥰

“ Our beautiful boy was born in October 2024 & we are so thankful to Clare for imparting to us this invaluable knowledge that is Hypnobirthing! For anyone who is in two minds about HypnoBirthinv we can now say with confidence: go for it because it will give you the tools to manage any emotions that arise before and during your birth experience.
Moreover, you will be with someone who also has learned and experienced HypnoBiryhing herself and will be there holding that space with you.

I had had a good pregnancy so I was confident in my ability to birth a child safely, however.. as the time approached and it started to feel very real I wanted to understand the physiology of birthing and prepare for every eventuality as this was my first time giving birth, at the age of 42! Also, some friends had vouched for the Marie Mongan HypnoBirthing®️ course as ‘the original, one-and-only’ HB course and this is what Clare delivers.

We had quite a drive to South Yorkshire from Lancashire. But it was all worth it as we got to know Clare and immerse ourselves in the course content.
Clare is such a warm person and very quickly made us feel at ease.
Not only will you learn about the physiology of birth, relaxation techniques and self-hypnosis but very importantly about your rights whether birthing at hospital, birth centre or home. It felt empowering arriving at the birth centre with our personal birth plan knowing that my partner and I were in control of our birth experience.

I birthed our son in the birthing pool to the point of crowning. Just in the final instance medical intervention was necessary as the little guy was discovered to be in back-to-back position so a forceps delivery was required right at the end. Thanks to the calming effects of HB, I remained completely calm and thus always felt in control of my emotions during what could otherwise have been a scary experience.

While birthing our son we listened to the Rainbow Relaxation many times as this was our favourite from the HB tool kit. We had listened to it daily during the pregnancy and its amazing how it immediately takes you to that calming, safe space. We still listen to it some nights when we are in need of a fast pass to sleepy lands! We also loved the breathing techniques that we learned together and my partner could breathe with me during labour which was a wonderful way of connecting in those moments.

Our Hypnobirthing journey didn’t end when our son came into this world. I strongly believe that because we had had such a powerful birth experience as a couple, that energy and empowerment carried on into our home environment where we continue to parent and support each other as a solid team!

We thank you Clare for such a brilliant and informative course.”

Truth vs What We Think is True

What if what we think is true about something or someone is only ever just our mind's own version of events?
What if what seems to us to be rock solid reality is simply a mind-created representation of what is actually going on based on a merger of meanings, associations and concepts innocently acquired through the course of our lives and affected in each moment by our changing moods, state of mind and the opinions and values of those around us?
What if we deeply saw that nothing we ever think is The Truth?
That in truth, we could think anything about anything in any moment?
What difference could this make to how seriously we treat our mind's dramatic storytelling, worrying and predictions about ourselves, other people, what happened yesterday, what could happen next Tuesday? Would it make sense to stay suffering in our version of events when the cause of that suffering is completely made up?

Bring a Mindful Pause into your Day 🤍

Whenever your mind is full to overflowing with stressful or critical thinking and you can feel the tension gripping parts of your body…. Instead of staying stuck in those mind-created stories striving to fix the apparent problem…

Just for a moment direct all your attention into the Now…be 💯 aware of the present moment…beyond the mental chatter

Doing the Best We Can in pregnancy, birth and beyond 💫

Do you ever find yourself berating or blaming yourself for behaving in a certain way? 😥 😣

When I was pregnant the first time around I used to worry that being stressed at work about a deadline was not good for my baby. But all the extra worry only served to make me feel more anxious - it didn’t stop the stress from happening.

What I now know beyond doubt is that how I and you and every human being responds to situations and other people is a result of what looks true to our minds in that moment.
In other words whatever I’m believing about myself in relation to that situation or person will shape my mind’s response to it. Whatever you are believing in relation to a situation or person will shape your mind’s response to it.
It is all so automatic, so innocent. It is just what minds do - they form beliefs to make sense of the world and these beliefs run the show.

I also know for sure that change happens when we identify and start to question the validity of these underpinning beliefs and when we let them go.

As our unhelpful and limiting beliefs are seen through, they dissolve and change. Then, the entire way we perceive ourselves, other people and the world changes too. We find that we respond differently as we experience the same things entirely differently.

We are always doing the best we can with how life looks to us in any moment.
There is no point increasing our suffering by resisting and blaming ourselves for any of it.

Instead, it’s much more helpful to get curious about what beliefs are underpinning our feelings and behaviour and to question what’s actually real and true now.

THE INVISIBLE ANXIETY TRAP

Us humans are safe to experience every kind of emotion and feeling, not just the “good” ones.

That can be really hard to consider, especially if like me, you’ve spent years and years feeling like you need to get rid of anxiety or worry and permanently secure the feeling of peace or happiness for all time. Such a struggle, so much suffering and darn right impossible to achieve.

But it’s the labelling of it and the trying to be rid of anxiety, that seeking of some kind of relief (a temporary fix) from the sensations outside of ourselves that makes the experience of having anxiety a problem.

What we resist persists…

It’s like being caught in a chinese finger trap. We’re trying desperately to escape it somehow because we don’t like how we feel in our bodies. But the more we resist, the more anxious we feel. The trap tightens and the symptoms intensify and the more we resist….so much suffering in this futile battle.

So how then do we free ourselves from the finger trap of anxiety?

By looking in the opposite direction:

By doing the last thing we think we should be doing and not trying to be rid of the anxious thoughts and feelings.

By instead turning towards the sensations in the body in the present moment.

By softening our laser focus on resisting the sensations and the story of what’s we think is causing the anxiety.

By instead being open and curious about the sensations occurring in the body - as though we are an alien that has just landed in this human mind and body and we’re just noticing our experience.

By allowing the raw sensations to be just as they are right now, without judgement or labels, without needing anything to change.
As the seeking stops, there’s a settling of the central nervous system, a settling of the busy-ness of the mind, a slowing down.

The trap slowly releases and the body returns to it’s default state of calm. In that space of open awareness lies freedom. Open to whatever emotions and feelings come and go, anxious or otherwise, nothing to resist 😊
