This afternoon Andy our friend, colleague and Funeral Director for H J Phillips & Son Funeral Directors assisted us by conducting the funeral service for one of our families.

Tamsyn has spent the past two weeks ensuring every single detail was exactly as requested by the family and all of that hard work was evident today for what was a beautiful, all be it loud goodbye.

Rest Easy 'Fingers' πŸ™ŒπŸ»

We never underestimate the difficulty families face in the days and weeks that follow the passing of a loved one.

Feedback, like this really does highlight to us that despite the challenges, the emotion, the stress, the seemingly never ending to do lists and the sadness families face we do indeed make a difference to them at their time of greatest need.

Today our Funeral Director Scott helped a family say goodbye to a deeply loved lady, a wonderful Wife, a cherished Mother, a valued neighbour, cherished friend, cornerstone of the community and a Royal Air Force veteran.

This funeral was arranged by our colleagues at W. Bailey & Son Funeral Directors in Cambridge but it was our team here who escorted Lynne on her final journey. We worked collaboratively to ensure this wonderful lady was given the send off both her and her family deserved.

Scott was joined by Abbi our FSO Team Leader and Diary Manager on The Hearse with Ken looking after the family in our Limousine. Daniel and Mark were on hand at Counties Crematorium to ensure the chapel was ready, mourners seated and to then form the second half of our bearing party.

Being a veteran himself Scott takes immense pride in being able to help families of fellow veterans say goodbye.

This morning our wonderful Funeral Service Specialist Tamsyn popped over to see our friends at Park House Wellingborough as she joined them for a coffee morning.

Tamsyn was armed with packets of biscuits and a smile as she joined staff, residents and the Mayor of Wellingborough for tea, coffee, cakes and conversation.

Despite only being with us for a couple of weeks Tamsyn is already proving to be a great addition to the team and she is excited at the prospect of spending more time out and about within our community.

This afternoon, as the sun set over a snow covered Warren Hill Crematorium, Scott our Funeral Director helped a lovely family say goodbye to a wonderful Husband, Step Dad, neighbour, colleague and friend.

Connor was our Hearse Driver this afternoon and Nate, Craig and Alan made up the rest of our bearing party and, as they always do fulfilled their duties with dignity, grace and professionalism.

A wonderful farewell to a deeply loved and sorely missed Man.

Rest in peace Philip πŸ™

As 2026 enters it's infancy we take a moment to pause, reflect and remember the families we have helped and the loved ones that they sadly lost during 2025.

Throughout the past year we have helped so many families say goodbye, families with different stories to tell, memories to share and each one with their own personal way of honouring the much loved, deeply treasured and sorely missed individual they have lost.

We struggle to find words that adequately express our gratitude and our thanks for entrusting us with the care of your loved ones. To be afforded the opportunity to help families when they are at their most vulnerable, most hurt and when they feel lost seeking reassurance and direction really is an honour and a privilege, It always has been and always will be.

For most of us Christmas Day starts with gifts under the tree, facetime calls with family and boxes of celebrations for breakfast.

As the day progresses households up and down the country then experience good food, terrible cracker jokes and the inevitable family fall outs over games of Charades or any one of a number of board games.

Whilst it's a time of celebration for many for others it is a very real reminder that there are loved ones no longer with them, family members they have lost this year or in years past.

A chair that was once occupied now sits empty. One less table setting is required, one fewer present given or received, one card missing from the mantlepiece and the warmth and joy that the sound of a loved ones voice, their laugh, their embrace brings is distinctly absent.

Today, if only for a brief moment we remember those families for which Christmas has always lost a bit of it's magic.

Today is definitely a day of mixed emotions for us here at Bruce Carter & Son Funeral Directors as we bid farewell to our Funeral Service Specialist Simon and say 'Hello' to Tamsyn.

After 8 months with us Simon has made the very difficult decision to leave the Dignity Funerals family and to pursue an opportunity away from the Funeral sector.

Funeral Director Scott had this to say about Simon and his time with us;

"Simon turned up here on day one with no prior experience working within funerals but that did not stop him. He asked questions.....lots of them and took on-board the pearls of wisdom, of which there were many that more established colleagues imparted on him. In the weeks and months since joining us here Simon has become a very confident, capable, dependable and trusted member of the team, a fantastic Funeral Service Specialist and a bloody good friend too. He will be missed but moves on with only our best wishes for the future."

Tamsyn will be replacing Simon as our new Funeral Service Specialist having previously worked for our colleagues at Clarabut & Plumbe Funeral Directors in Bedford. Tamsyn not only brings with her a wealth of experience but also an enthusiasm for the role and for a fresh challenge that has been really pleasing to see. Welcome Tamsyn.
