Podcast 28 - Using our modern world to learn more about culture.

In today’s podcast, Abi and Jess discuss how we can use technology to grow our brain’s plasticity and learn about the different origins of people’s individual approaches to life.
Whether it’s living in a different culture or just experiencing someone else’s approach to work tasks, there is always a story behind why we do what we do.

Through becoming more culturally aware and trying to walk in someone else’s shoes, we gain an understanding but, more than that, we also have lots of fun in the process.

So, asking, finding information, gaining some sensory experience and learning (which is so much easier in our modern world) are all ways to bring our mutual experience of being human a different element and will, hopefully, help us to be curious and respectful of each other.

Podcast 26 - How to fit exercise into a busy day?

Have you ever found yourself saying things like: ‘I just don’t have the time to exercise’ or ‘exercise just isn’t for me’.  Hoorah! There is a way to stay fit, slim, muscular or healthy  for everyone.

Continuing the theme of living your life in the way you want it in our modern world, Abi and Jess talk about how we can fit exercise into our busy lives.

Turns out there are plenty of ways to stay fit, in shape, healthy and finding a way that suits your natural way of doing things is possible: a structured person schedules, a multi tasker adds it to their tasks, a bitesize person makes it bitesize.  Whatever your approach to life can be adapted to being fitter.

Then there’s the underlying meaning of why you are doing what you do and Abi and Jess discuss how these beliefs about self drive behaviour and can also inhibit behaviours.

Podcast 25 - How do you ensure you eat healthily?
Such a common theme is that people want to eat well and stay healthy; yet more and more of what we put into our bodies is processed or full of preservatives. A recent figure estimated that the average Brit’s diet is 50% processed food. That’s massive. But how do we change it?

Or there’s the ‘I’m just having one biscuit’ reasoning as our brains justify what we are doing. If you eat one at a time, that’s true and our sugar-enjoying brains will give us ways and means of forgetting how much we’ve eaten once it’s added up.

Abi and Jess give some top tips for they hows and whys of eating healthily, changing the emphasis of our internal messaging, really noticing what we are doing and how to change the process.

Finally, giving you listeners a short activity to help discover who you want to be in the world and get specific about that. Once you have these details defined for YOU, life’s decision become easier and those appearances may become something different. Who knows….listen on.
