How are you feeling ? We live in confusing times where lies are now the truth. We are told not to believe whats true. This confusion and the feeling that "I cant change anything" as well as looming fear, can impact on our wellbeing, and mental health. There are things you can do. Take control of you ! Be kind to yourself decide to eat well cut out junk food, less sugar. Move your body each day, walk, jog or just strech, get out side and hug a tree or sit by water. (There is evidence this is beneficial for humans). Breath and relax you are ok just as you are. Oh and lets be kind to others, have a conversation with someone you wouldnt normally chat to.

cold water exposure
A question, posed by Tipton in 2019,1 refers to the fact that humans have become increasingly sedentary and physiologically unchallenged due to the high degree of control we have imposed over our environment. Humans are endothermic, maintaining a near constant core temperature no matter what the temperature of their surroundings. Our modern western culture has provided an unprecedented level of thermal comfort.
Central heating, air conditioning, readily available hot water, insulated housing, and clothing wrap modern humans in a constant comfortable environment that is a long way from the evolutionary crucible in which our genes were selected. An increasing body of anecdotal evidence and academic evidence suggests that environmental stress that challenges our body's thermal equilibrium may produce significant health benefits.

Voluntary exposure to the elements is nothing new, and many cultures throughout history have engaged in such practices. For example, the Japanese have practised the ritual of bathing in hot springs heated by geothermal energy (Onsen), or by using baths specifically built for the purpose of relaxation and spiritual renewal (Ofuro), rather than just for washing.
In Finland, the ancient practise of sauna is part of the national psyche. This practice involves alternating exposures to heated rooms followed by immersion in cold water or snow.
I have completed a cold water therapy course, so I am going to be introducing cold water dipping sessions as part of my MH tool kit, watch this space for more info when the cold snap ends. Message me if you are interested.
