So we’ve thought about home and what might help to regulate, what about throughout the day at school??📚

⭐️ Regulation strategies will likely differ for everyone, explore specifics with your OT or contact us today!

Join Ale, one of our OTs, as she shows us some different ways of combining movement into our seating for school. 🪑

Vestibular and proprioceptive sensory input are often regulating for our nervous system, and great for combining into our routine in a proactive way!😌

❓Have you explored active seating with your school team?
❓What are some other methods of regulating at school that have been helpful for you?
Let us know in the comments!

So, we know a bit more about regulation, now what do we do to maintain a just right regulation state or calm from a dysregulated state?🤔

⭐️ Regulation strategies will likely differ for everyone, explore specifics with your OT or contact us today!

Join Maddie, one of our OTs, as she shows us some different ways of using a gym ball to regulate at home!🤩

A gym ball is great for seeking deep tactile and proprioceptive sensory input, these systems are often regulating for the nervous system. 😌

❓Have you got a go to regulation strategy for home?
❓Have you explored more gym ball regulation strategies?

We asked some of the LLI team what happens to them when they are feeling dysregulated 🤔

🧠To be ‘dysregulated’ means when your body and brain aren’t in sync with what you’re trying to do, like when you’re too fizzy to sit still to read a book, or sit at a desk.
We usually associate being dysregulated with when we are in a high nervous system arousal state, e.g. ‘fizzy’, ‘overwhelmed’ or emotions like nervous, overexcited, frustrated.
Being dysregulated impacts our ability to access productivity, leisure and personal care occupations - whether that’s an isolated moment or chronic dysregulation.
Sometimes we need help to regulate, through co-regulation and sometimes we can use tools or strategies to self-regulate.

👀 Look out for our next reels considering helpful strategies for home and school environments!🐧

❓What does a dysregulated state look like for you and your family?
❓What do you do when you are dysregulated?

We asked some of the LLI team what a regulated state looks like for them🤔

🧠To be ‘regulated’ means to be in a nervous system arousal state that matches the activity you’re doing, your body and brain are balanced so that you can respond appropriately to the environment you’re in. This could be emotionally, socially, physically or cognitively.
You might most commonly associate being regulated with feeling calm, relaxed, ready to go.
We can co-regulate and self-regulate by using strategies when we are feeling dysregulated.

👀Look out for our next reel where we’ll think about dysregulation!🐧

🌟 Contact us to book! 🌟

🐧 The Huddle in Muddle to Huddle is based on the concept that penguins huddle to stay warm share their heat and conserve energy. They constantly rotate spending some time in the centre keeping warm (and supported) and other times on the outer edges providing the support.

🐧 We invite the Live & Love it community to be more like penguins; that is providing support when you/we have the capacity to do so and to benefit from the support (without guilt!) when you need it. Our therapy teams role in this is to facilitate conenction and build foundation knowledge.

Our ninjakitchenuk air fryer has been well used the past few weeks during Life Skills sessions with the OTs 🤩

🧑🏻‍🍳Chicken nuggets, pizza, curry, lasagne just to name a few!

Cooking in an OT session has some great benefits, building motor and executive functioning skills as well as connection and regulation through food, fun and sometimes a bit of music! 🍝🎵
