We asked some of the LLI team what happens to them when they are feeling dysregulated 🤔
🧠To be ‘dysregulated’ means when your body and brain aren’t in sync with what you’re trying to do, like when you’re too fizzy to sit still to read a book, or sit at a desk.
We usually associate being dysregulated with when we are in a high nervous system arousal state, e.g. ‘fizzy’, ‘overwhelmed’ or emotions like nervous, overexcited, frustrated.
Being dysregulated impacts our ability to access productivity, leisure and personal care occupations - whether that’s an isolated moment or chronic dysregulation.
Sometimes we need help to regulate, through co-regulation and sometimes we can use tools or strategies to self-regulate.
