When gentle touch is slowly applied to the palm, those signals travel through the nervous system and can help activate the parasympathetic nervous system — the part of the body responsible for rest, calm, and relaxation.
It’s a simple, soothing experience, but one that can help the whole body begin to slow down and unwind.
