Hello all, now that the sunshine has been here for a while sandals may be on so check out the toes. ….

I’ve taken on several elderly clients recently who have been struggling with their footcare for sometime. So next time you visit your relatives please ask if they are ok with their footcare routine. We may not see their feet as they are hidden in socks and slippers.

Poor footcare can also lead to pain, both of these can greatly affect mobility and impact physical and mental health.

And before we realise the weather is starting to change ready for autumn.

I’ve had a busy few months with new patients a new retirement and care home. Along with several continual professional development courses.

October was a busy month meeting and treating new patients and having regular repeat appointments with established patients. Thank you to everyone who recommended me and booked repeat appointments, your support is wonderful.

Several new patients initially thought I would just cut nails so I’ve decided to do a post on what I treat.

I’m here to help if you suffer from or need treatment for any of the following;

Callus (Hard skin)
Verrucae
Corns
Cracked heels
Fungal infection
Ingrown toenails
Thickened nail reduction
Diabetic foot health checks
Nail cutting

Depending on what treatment you need routine appointments can be from 6 weeks onwards. This is discussed during treatment along with what care you can continue to do in between appointments.

Other than me being a friendly and fully qualified foot health practitioner offering a professional service to help you get that spring back into your step all from the comfort of your own home. I’m also looking for signs of infection, episodes of trauma, reduced circulation, integrity of your skin and ulcerations.

The summer is coming to an end, it’s important to continue your footcare (or even start) while moving into the winter months.

Going from flip flops to shoes/boots remember your shoe should;
-feel immediately comfortable
-have at least 1‒1.5cm at the end of the shoe
-be wide enough and long enough to fit your feet.

Not suggesting you cut your shoe up like the picture but if you are unsure, draw around your foot on paper cut it out and then put in your shoe. If it curls up on the sides you know your footwear may cause your feet some problems.
