I sang with the for Steyning Festival this weekend, then stayed for the folk session afterwards.

At one point my husband launched enthusiastically into a wonderfully random song about a pigeon…

…which caught the attention of some familiar faces nearby 👀

We got chatting and discovered The Unthanks were also singing the very same song as the finale of their evening gig (which was excellent) 😂

Did you know they run residential singing weekends? I will definitely be booking onto one at some point 🗓️

The pigeon song was The King of Rome by June Tabor. And both versions sounded wonderful 🎶🐦

Last minute dog walk song practice for tomorrow 🌞

This one was written by my dear friend Lotte, , who is part of a group of women I need very much.

For the women who pick us up, hold us steady, make us laugh, let us cry, and somehow stay with us even when we’re not in the same room (or county 🥺).

Very grateful for those women in my life 💛

The women I need.

Sound on to hear us singing Motherland by Helen Yeomans 🎶

A room full of voices, and my little helper (always) by my side 🧡

A new chapter 🌊

After 6 years of living in Sussex, it’s time for a change...

Getting ready to move back to Cornwall later this year! 🚚

Thankfully the timing has been perfect, and I feel incredibly lucky to be passing my Singing Mamas group into very good hands over the next couple of months… welcome to the lovely .singingmamas.sussex who’s just completed her training ✨

As with all periods of change, this feels bittersweet.
But I’m so excited for what’s to come, including creating new groups near our new home.

Watch this space… 🧡

Meet Tessa 👋🏼

Tessa doesn’t make it every week, but whenever she comes she always says how much she needed it.

She’s so open about the highs and lows of motherhood, and brings a real honesty to the group because of it.

Also… her little one is almost always the best dressed in the room! ✨

Pretty sure we’d be very good friends if we hung out more 🧡

Meet Lye 👋🏼

Lye always says the loveliest things. Thoughtful and heartfelt in the way she expresses herself.

And she shares that same care through food too, often bringing something homemade (and usually delicious) to share 🍰

There’s always kindness, and a real sense of generosity in everything she brings.

Such a special presence in the group 🧡

With some enthusiastic young backing vocals 😂

Meet Fran 👋🏼

Fran was such a big part of the group when she came regularly, bringing a quiet strength and warmth that you could really feel in the room 🧡

She’s someone who really embodies what this space is about… showing up, being real, and holding others alongside yourself.

She’s now moving into postnatal doula work, which feels like the most natural extension of who she is 🌹🌿

And somewhere along the way, she’s become a very dear friend too ✨

If you’re looking for a postnatal doula, she’s someone very special, give her a follow:

It’s Earth Day today 🌎
Which can feel a little complicated in the world we’re living in.

So I escaped to the woods and sang Earth’s Child by Emily Roblyn! () 🌿

I'm not sure we need a special day to celebrate the earth anyway 🧡

Meet Evie! 👋🏼

Evie used to be a regular at the group, and although work means we don’t see her as often now, it’s always such a joy when she’s there ✨

She’s one of those quietly lovely people who always surprises you. Such a kind soul.
Her little one is very lucky 🧡
