As continues, we promised last week, our new blog has been uploaded: https://carefirst24.co.uk/care-first-24-staff-enjoy-the-benefits-of-a-lunchtime-wellbeing-walk/

Over the weekend we continued our stress awareness month mini challenge by:

🌿 The 1 Thing Noticing Practice - During your day, pause and notice one natural detail (light through a window, clouds, rain, a plant, fresh air).
Then ask: “What do I need right now — energy, calm, or focus?”
Bonus: Take one small action to match your answer.

🌿 Walk-and Talk (or Walk-and Think) - Take one conversation you’d normally have sitting down and make it a walk and talk (phone or in person). If that doesn’t fit, do a walk and think: one gentle loop while reflecting on one question: “What went well this week?”
Bonus: End the walk with a slow exhale.

Thanks for reading our blog. We hope you found it useful. 💙

This weekend Sam Stevenson, who is the father of one of the children we care for, is running the London Marathon to raise much needed funds for Julia's House Children's Hospice – The Dorset and Wiltshire Children’s Hospices.

Julia’s House is a well-known children’s hospice based in Dorset and Wiltshire. They provide practical and emotional support for families caring for a child with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition, providing frequent and regular support in their own homes, in the community or at their hospices.

For Sam and his family, their support means so much, and they are incredibly grateful as their son has attended Julia’s House since he was 6 months old.

In Sam’s words:
“ While words can’t fully express our gratitude, running this marathon and raising funds is a way for me to give back to an organisation that has given us so much. Your donation can make a significant difference in the lives of families like ours, providing them with the support and care they desperately need. Please donate, so together we can help Julia’s House continue its vital work.”

Care First 24 staff are enjoying the benefits of a lunchtime walk.

Following her attendance on a Mental Health First Aid course, our lovely Senior Recruitment Consultant, Dulcie, was inspired to introduce a lunchtime wellbeing walk group. She aimed to encourage colleagues to step away from their desks, clear their minds, get some exercise and connect on a more personal level. 💙

Each day, the group meet during their lunch break to enjoy walks around the beautiful countryside of , where our office is located. In the below image – joining Dulcie on this particular walk – are Carly, Megan and Isaac.

👀 Look out for our blog coming next week, highlighting the importance of incorporating a simple activity like walking into your daily routine. everyone!

✨ Happy ✨

Our Mini Challenge continues:

🌿 Nature + Movement Micro Walk (10 minutes)

Take a 10-minute walk at a pace that feels comfortable for you (indoors or outdoors.)

If possible, include a brief “nature moment” during your walk. This could be noticing a tree, a plant, the sky, or listening to birdsong.

Optional:
Keep your phone in your pocket for the first 2 minutes and focus on simply being present.

🌿 A short walk and a moment of awareness can help reset both body and mind.

Take five minutes to step outdoors and gently engage your senses.

Notice 3 things you can see
Listen for 2 sounds you can hear

Optional:
Take one slow, deep breath for each thing you notice

🌿 A small pause in your day can make a meaningful difference. 💙

🐾 – April 2026

Having a pet comes with all sorts of benefits - companionship, stress relief, physical health and emotional wellbeing. So, why not share that positivity at work too? Bringing pets into the office can 👇

🐾Lift spirits and lower stress
🐾Help support employee recruitment and retention
🐾Boost team morale
🐶 And make the workplace feel friendlier!

Meet Milo, one of our office dogs, who joins Kayley regularly at the office! Milo loves coming into the office as he gets endless cuddles and treats all day! He also brings his chilled vibes into the office, as you can see in the below image - he takes his job as office dog very seriously.

Who says the office is just for humans? 🐕

✨✨ ✨✨

We love introducing new members to our Care First 24 family, and are delighted to say 'hello' to our newest member of the team, Sarah. Sarah has joined us as a Paediatric Clinical Lead in Dorset, and she will be supporting children and their families with complex care who have life-limiting conditions.

Sarah brings a wealth of experience with her, and is an extremely experienced Paediatric Nurse, having worked in acute roles in the community and hospitals nursing and supporting children with a range of health needs. Sarah has the qualities we aspire to at Care First 24 - ensuring the delivery of best practice in paediatrics. She is always child and family-centred, consistently putting them at the forefront and is a great advocate for their health care needs.

Her qualities are based on 'old school practice' with a 'fresh spin' :
✅ Advanced clinical practice - natural leader
✅ Adaptable and calm under pressure, proactive, and organised
✅ Good role model and very focused.

😃 And now for the fun part! In her spare time - Sarah loves paddleboarding 🚣 running 🏃‍♀️ and swimming 🏊 and in the next year aims to hike the Three Peaks Challenge within 5 days! Good Luck and it's great to have you on board! 💙

During , we’re taking a moment to recognise and support the wellbeing of our nurses and caregivers.

Somerset, our Wellbeing Representative at Care First 24, shares practical advice in her blog, A Guide for Nurses and Caregivers: https://carefirst24.co.uk/caring-for-the-carers-a-wellbeing-guide-for-nurses-and-caregivers/

Caring for others is one of the most meaningful and important roles in society, but it can also be one of the most demanding. Looking after your own wellbeing is what helps you continue to show up for those who rely on you.

As the saying goes, “You can’t pour from an empty cup.” Taking time to care for yourself isn’t selfish, it’s essential. It helps you stay healthy, resilient, and able to continue providing the best care for others.

💙 Nurses and caregivers so often give so much of themselves, and this is a gentle reminder that your wellbeing matters too.

Caring for others is one of the most meaningful roles in society—but it’s also one of the toughest. Nurses and carers often give so much of themselves that their own wellbeing takes a back seat. This guide is here to remind you: looking after yourself isn’t selfish—it’s essential. Why Your...
