We were excited to see some new and old faces at today’s breathing class. We explored new techniques to improve the quality of our breath and added some relaxation into our day. Did you know we take around 20,000 breaths each day? The quality of these breaths is crucial for our overall well-being.

Continuing our series on essential nutrients, this week we’re focusing on dairy!

Dairy is a powerhouse of nutrition, but it often gets misunderstood. Let's debunk some myths and highlight its benefits! 🌟

Myth Busting:
Myth 1: Dairy causes weight gain and should be avoided.
Myth 2: Only animal-based dairy provides necessary nutrients.

The Truth:
Dairy is packed with essential nutrients that support overall health:

Calcium - Crucial for strong bones and teeth.

Protein -Supports muscle repair and growth.

Vitamin D - Enhances calcium absorption and supports immune function.

B Vitamins -Important for energy production and red blood cell formation.

How much dairy do you need?

The average adult should aim for 3 servings of dairy per day.
Examples of Dairy-Rich Foods:

Animal-Based Sources:
Milk: One cup (240ml) of milk provides 8 grams of protein and 30% of the daily calcium requirement.

Yogurt: One cup (245g) of plain yogurt contains 10 grams of protein and 49% of the daily calcium requirement.

Cheese: One ounce (28g) of cheddar cheese offers 7 grams of protein and 20% of the daily calcium requirement.

Plant-Based Alternatives:
Almond Milk: One cup (240ml) of fortified almond milk provides 1 gram of protein and 45% of the daily calcium requirement.

Soy Milk: One cup (240ml) of fortified soy milk contains 7 grams of protein and 30% of the daily calcium requirement.

Coconut Yogurt: One cup (245g) of fortified coconut yogurt offers 2 grams of protein and 25% of the daily calcium requirement.

Simple Tips to Boost Dairy Intake:

Start your day with dairy - Add milk to your Oats.

Snack smart - Enjoy a cup of yogurt or a piece of cheese with fruit.

Cook with dairy - milk or cheese in soups, sauces, and casseroles.

Try plant-based alternatives - Fortified plant-based milks and yogurts are great options for those who are lactose intolerant or vegan.
