I recently took a service with a Reading on Perseverance and Persistence. It was from a book by the Trance Medium Ursula Roberts and the teachings given by her Guide Ramadahn, it was Book 5 of 7 and entitled Truths of the Spirit World.
As mediums for the spirit world to work in we have to train, to show diligence and dedication…in short to demonstrate both perseverance even in the face of failure and/or trials of a material personal nature, and Persistence in the face of criticism and ridicule, mistakes and misunderstanding.
Looking at modern life there is many times of individuals showing perseverance and persistence but mostly in those of toddlers and young adolescences, ie learning to walk from the first attemps at standing to the first faltering steps and suddenlyplopping the padded bums down due to balance or loss of momentumn. It is only through persistence and perseverance that toddlers learn many things, communication, walking and running etc. As young children we learn to tie our shoes but only through repetition and persistence that we finally learn to get “the rabbit round the tree and down the hole” and successfully tie the laces. As teenagers there is fewer lessons of persistence but they are there, as we grow we learn to adapt and compromise, ie learning to drive - it is not at all like the lessons of school even though theres an exam at the end which we hope to pass. Persistence and perseverance in the context of what we want to do for employment or college.
As adults life is more about compromise and communication, and modern life is not at all about commitment, diligence, perseverance and persistence. If we’re not happy we can change things from our mobile phones to our utilities suppliers. If we dont enjoy our work we change our jobs, and if we’re not happy in relationships we can split or divorce. Adult modern life seems to be about transients and throwaway things.
Persistence and perseverance is about strength of mind and will, discipline for sticking at something when those around are not in full support. Perseverance is not forgetting about it when life throws you a curve ball and then when the dust settles going back to it and trying again.
Try, try and try again. Pick yourself up and dust yourself off and start over. These and many more are all a long winded way of saying show some perseverance and persistence for the things that matter to you in life.
And as mediums it is our learning to blend our energies and receive then give the evidence for the recipients that makes the backbone of Spiritualism so strong. Without discipline and strength of mind and will, to persevere and persist in the face of doubters, criticism as well as what life throws at us mediumship wouldn’t be possible.
