The position of Second Stewardess on a 49-metre motor yacht is a vital role within the interior team, supporting the Chief Stewardess and ensuring the highest standards of guest service and interior maintenance. The Second Stewardess is expected to be proactive, organised, and personable, contributing to the overall smooth operation of the yacht, both at sea and in port.
Key Responsibilities
• Guest Service: Providing attentive, discreet, and personalised service to guests, covering tasks such as table service, cocktail preparation, and attending to guest requests.
• Housekeeping: Assisting with daily cleaning routines, including cabins, saloon, and other interior areas. Maintaining impeccable standards of cleanliness and presentation.
• Laundry: Managing guest and crew laundry, including washing, ironing, folding, and wardrobe organisation, with careful attention to luxury fabrics.
• Table Setting and Decoration: Assisting with setting tables for meals, arranging flowers, and creating a welcoming atmosphere in line with guest preferences.
• Inventory Management: Supporting stock control of interior supplies, linens, and amenities, and assisting with ordering and restocking as required.
• Teamwork: Collaborating closely with the Chief Stewardess and other crew members, providing support during busy periods and helping train junior stews if present.
• Event Assistance: Helping organise and deliver special events, parties, or themed dinners onboard in accordance with guest wishes.
Required Qualifications and Skills
• Previous experience as a Stewardess on yachts (ideally on vessels of similar size).
• A genuine passion for hospitality and guest service.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work well within a multicultural, dynamic team.
• Discretion and professionalism at all times.
• Basic knowledge of food and beverage service, including wine and cocktail service.
• STCW basic safety training and ENG1 medical certificate (mandatory for yacht crew).
• Languages: Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
Typical Working Environment
The Second Stewardess works closely with the Chief Stewardess and other interior team members. The role involves extended periods at sea as well as time in port, with variable working hours depending on guest presence and itinerary. Flexibility, adaptability, and a strong work ethic are essential, as the work can be physically demanding and fast-paced.
