Life can feel very difficult at times - overwhelming and lonely. Often it’s hard to talk to the people around us because perhaps we feel embarrassed, ashamed or maybe we just don’t want to worry them.

I’ve been working as a Cognitive Hypnotherapist for ten years now, helping hundreds of people with issues as varied as Anxiety, Depression, fears, self confidence, self esteem and more. It’s something I feel very privileged to be able to do.

It’s a talking therapy, tailored for each unique individual. It’s practical, kind and gives you the life skills to cope with whatever life throws at you. Completely confidential, I can give you a safe space to talk, work through things and reach a place in your life where you can be who you want to be.

This can be in person, online or a mix of the two - whichever works best for you.

I’m here when you feel ready.

Anxiety is the symptom. Your nervous system is trying to send you a message so that you begin to change your environment, your understanding of what has happened to you or is happening to you.

When we work on that in therapy… the Anxiety goes.

I’m trying to move away from being on my phone so much. I had planned on videoing my morning but I changed my mind. Being with my friends and fellow therapists this morning was just lovely. We chatted about life and the universe with not a phone in sight. It would have felt wrong to be filming.

So I didn’t.

I walked with a very lovely friend this afternoon and we talked about just this. So often we see life through a screen or how our lives might look on a screen when what is going to feel so much better is living it for real, in the moment.

Asking for help can feel daunting. It’s the hardest step. Particularly if you’ve experienced unhelpful people in the past.

But it’s the first step towards feeling like you again. When you are ready - I’m here. And if I’m not the right fit for your needs then there will be someone who is.

You don’t have to do this by yourself. Ask for help. Open the doorway to hope.

Therapy is not a magic cure but it can be a magnificent life jacket to keep us afloat when times are hard. It’s a solid support of having someone in your corner. It’s a way of understanding and working with what’s happening in our lives. It’s a way of accepting ourselves, learning to love ourselves and working to create positive change. None of us will ever be perfect and we will always feel strong emotions at times but we can learn to temper those feelings, to be kind to ourselves.

Insight Timer is the world’s largest free meditation app. I am gradually creating a library of meditations there which are written and recorded by me, available for free.

You don’t have to have meditated before to enjoy them, just click on a particular track and enjoy. There are descriptions of each one.

Just go to Insight Timer where you find your apps and search Sarah Ariss. You can also just click here: https://insig.ht/TIqIoh8YNUb

I hope that you find them enjoyable and calming. The latest one, which was uploaded yesterday is all about facing the winter months with calm and positivity.

Let me know if you enjoy and please feel free to like and share this post so more people can benefit from this free resource.

Thank you.

Our Story

One of the best things in life is to witness the transformation people can make, in such a short period of time, when they are brave enough to ask for help.

When a person is feeling wobbly and anxious anyway it can feel pretty scary to contact a therapist.

That’s why it’s my aim to make therapy as gentle and easy as possible. Believe it or not there’s often quite a lot of laughter in the sessions, and kindness.... I think that’s important.

I remember describing the journey we make together to a client once. We begin by walking along the road to change, together, holding hands, and then after a little while the client feels safe enough to walk alongside me on their own. Eventually a time comes when the client realises that they have everything they need to walk alone, with their head held high and a new confidence in their step. That’s a good moment.
