Saturday 1st June

11 a side friendly v Mossley Hill City.

Probably the biggest 11 a side pitch yet we’ve played on but we started okay. Very competitive first half with both teams having good spells. Some good passing & moving got us into great positions to take the lead but we didn’t take our chances. Half time 0-0.

Second half Mossley really started to pass from side to side & use the space well. They got into some good positions into our six yard box to score some goals very close range. Credit to them for taking their chances.

We also had some good passing movements but all our shots went straight to their keeper & we couldn’t find that breakthrough. Fitness on such a big pitch also came into play & Mossley seemed to have the edge.

A really good competitive game though & lots of promising signs as we adapt to the new format.

Saturday 27th April

A home game v Newton. Pitch was in terrible condition, but would have been much worse if we hadn’t put some graft in ourselves pre kick off.

Not a great surface to play on, but never the less we played some good football. We were in a good moment but it was Newton who hit us on the break to take the lead.

Lost our way a little for 5/10 mins but went into half time 1-0 down.

Second half we dominated for large spells & played really well with everyone giving everything. The woodwork denied us 3 times, their keeper made some excellent saves & some great defending meant we couldn’t find that goal. Newton then hit us on the break again 2-0.

Kids were gutted as they knew we deserved so much more from the game as we put in a good performance. Sometimes football is cruel & it was one of those days. Great effort & desire from the kids & another day we could’ve scored a bag full.

Pressed really well & always an outlet for her team mates. Some good link up & goalkeeper made a worldie save to deny her a goal 👏🏻

A dominant display in central midfield winning most of her battles & getting the ball down switching play 👌🏻
