Pumpkin Day at The Rowans!🎃

This weekend, our home was filled with laughter, creativity, and a touch of autumn magic as the people of The Rowans celebrated Pumpkin Day in true seasonal style!🍂

We gathered together for an afternoon of good old-fashioned pumpkin carving, and it was wonderful to see everyone getting stuck in — scooping, carving, and decorating their pumpkins with care and imagination. From traditional spooky faces to fun and unique designs, each pumpkin was as special and full of character as the person who made it🧡

It wasn’t just about the carving — it was about the joy of being together, sharing stories, laughter, and plenty of smiles along the way☺️

Trick or Treating Welcome!👻🎃

The Rowans are ready for some Halloween fun!

If you’d like to stop by and do a bit of trick or treating, come and knock on the Rowans’ doors this Halloween between 6:00pm and 7:30pm — there’ll be plenty of sweets waiting! 🍬🍭

Breast Cancer Awareness Day!💕

Today we came together for our “Pink Afternoon” to raise awareness for breast cancer in a fun and meaningful way! 💗

We kicked things off with some lively quizzes to test our pink knowledge — congratulations to Alan B and Karen for winning our main quiz, and to Lina, David, and Alan S for their great work in our mini quiz!🏆

The fun didn’t stop there — we turned our pink balloons into fitness props and got moving to some great music!

Days like today remind us how important it is to keep the conversation going and continue raising awareness for cancer research💞
A huge thank you to everyone who took part and wore pink to show their support — you all made the day extra special!☺️

National Dessert Day Fun🧁

Yesterday, we celebrated National Dessert Day in the sweetest way possible – with homemade treats and plenty of smiles!

A few of our lovely people rolled up their sleeves and got creative in the kitchen using our much-loved cupcake maker!
They whipped up some delicious muffins – even if we did get a little crispy on the tops☺️

It was all in good fun, and the laughter was just as sweet as the desserts🤍
We can't wait to bake together again soon!

The Rowans Turns Two! 🎉

Yesterday marked two years since The Rowans opened it’s doors, and what a beautiful journey it’s been.
In that time, our home has become more than just a place to live — it has become a family☺️

We came together to celebrate not just the anniversary, but the people who make The Rowans what it is — our people who live in our home, our team, our families, and our community.

Every smile, every shared story, and every act of kindness has helped build the heart of this home.

We were honoured by a performance from the wonderful Laura McDonald, who kept everyone entertained and made the day so memorable!
We also had a special visit from Deputy Mayor of Wigan, Councillor Anne Collins, and Deputy Mayoress Jane Kenyon, who helped us begin the day with warmth and encouragement for the future🌟

To everyone who has been part of The Rowans’ journey — past and present — thank you.
Whether you’ve lived here, worked here, visited, or supported us from afar, you’ve helped shape a home built on love, dignity, and connection.

Here’s to the memories we’ve made, the lives we’ve touched, and the years still to come — leading always with compassion and heart🤍

September Birthday Recap!🎉

As we dive into October’s celebrations, let’s take a moment to look back at the wonderful birthdays we celebrated in September!

Roland kicked off the months celebrations, turning 78 on the 4th!

On the 20th, we had a double celebration for Doreen turning 84, and Alan turning 77!

Tommy joined the birthday fun on the 23rd, turning 79!

We wrapped up the month on the 30th with another joint celebration — Mavis turned 87 and Sandra 78!

Here's to even more laughter, love, and cake in October!🎂

World Smile Day at The Rowans!🤍

Today is World Smile Day, to celebrate we asked some of the people who live at The Rowans and our team what makes them smile!

The answers ranged from life’s little joys to meaningful moments, everyone had something special to share.
It sparked beautiful conversations, happy memories, and of course… lots of laughter!☺️

A Fun-Filled Weekend at Rowans! 🎉

We had an absolutely fantastic time over the weekend, packed with laughter, music, and a bit of friendly competition!

The highlight was our ever-popular Rowans Pub Quiz, where everyone gathered in teams to test their general knowledge and work together to answer the different questions.

Congratulations to our winners, Alan and Enid, who proved to be quite the dream team! 🏆👏

But the fun didn’t stop there — we kept our spirits up with several karaoke sessions throughout the weekend! 🎤🎶
From golden oldies to classic sing-alongs, everyone sang their hearts out, and shared plenty of laughs along the way. It was wonderful to see everyone so engaged, singing, clapping, and making memories together.

Weekends like these remind us just how special our community is — full of joy, connection, and moments to treasure🤍

Macmillan Coffee Morning 💚☕

This morning, we came together for a heartwarming Coffee Morning in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.

With delicious cakes, hot drinks, and even better company, we raised funds for a cause close to many of our hearts.

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed and who joined us to helped make the event such a success — your generosity and support mean so much! 💚

National Day of Arts in Care Homes 🤍

To celebrate this special day, we got creative with a cosy autumn craft session! 🍂

The people who live in our home used the technique of tea bag painting to create their art. This classic method ages the paper — just like the leaves change and age through the seasons.

Each piece they made carried a personal touch, reminding us that art isn’t just about making something beautiful — it’s about telling a story and feeling connected.

It was a fun, hands-on activity, full of laughter, creativity, and a whole lot of heart☺️
