Hi all, it's been a while since we posted due to the current situation. We are very busy, attending approximately 5-6 calls a week in the wigton and District area outside our normal work.
I would like to thank you all for following the group.
Here's wishing you all a happy Xmas and a prosperous New year.
There is a possibility we could need some new responders in the new year but not confirmed yet.
Anyone interested please message us.

A lot of people don’t realise that lateral flow tests (LFT) are only to be used if people are well as soon as you develop any symptoms you need a PCR test. LFT can give negative results when you are symptomatic, even if positive for COVID-19.

Please remember that Rapid lateral flow tests are for asymptomatic testing only. If you develop covid-19 symptoms please take a PCR test.

We’re here for you this bank holiday weekend when you need us most but please remember to keep our crews like the one in the below 📸 free for life-threatening emergencies.

We've got loads of information on our website to help you know when to call 999 and don't forget 111.nhs.uk can help you when you need urgent advice but are not sure what to do. ⬇️

Our neighbours up at Boltons, Ireby and Uldale are looking for some new members. If you live in their area and are interested get in touch with Caroline

We are looking for new volunteers to join our "merry band of Community First Responders (CFR)" in the Boltons, Ireby and Uldale areas.

We respond to the 999 call, day and night, so that you get a fast response to certain types of medical emergencies; we "hold the fort" til the ambulance crews arrive. Our aim is to look after those in our communities who need to call for an ambulance; this may be someone who has difficulty in breathing, someone who has a diabetic emergency or someone who has chest pains or who is in full cardiac arrest.

You will receive full training from NWAS and our friendly supportive team will ensure that you continue your training in our community, with realistic scenario training to give you the confidence to repsond when you are able to.

If you are interested in joining us as a volunteer, please get in touch with Caroline Neil if you want to chat it through to see if it is for you. She can explain what is involved and talk you through the training etc. We provide full training and all equipment to help you to respond to 999 calls in our community.

If you are ready to join us then please do apply here: don't be put off by the long application form, please do perservere as they only have one form for all positions in the North West Ambulance Service, whether they are full time or volunteer.

We look forward to welcoming you to our team in the near future.
