Meningitis information - please read before contacting the practice.

We are currently receiving a high volume of enquiries regarding the reported meningitis (MenB) outbreak in Kent.

Public health authorities, including the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), are managing this situation.

Please note that the MenB vaccine is NOT routinely provided on the NHS for adults outside of specific eligibility groups, and we are therefore unable to offer MenB vaccination at the practice for this situation.

If you develop symptoms suggestive of meningitis (such as fever, headache, neck stiffness, sensitivity to light, vomiting, or a rash), please seek urgent medical advice by calling NHS 111 or attending A&E.

We kindly ask patients to avoid contacting the practice unless they have symptoms or have been specifically advised to do so, to help us keep lines open for those who need urgent care.

Caldbeck Surgery Goes Electric!

We’re excited to share that we’ve added a new all‑electric van to support our prescription delivery service — and here it is out on the fells on a beautiful blue‑sky day, looking across toward High Pike!

For many patients in our rural area, collecting regular prescriptions can be challenging due to distance, limited transport, mobility issues, or caring responsibilities. Our delivery service remains a vital lifeline, with Chris, Ken, and Alison on the road four days a week across our 100‑square‑mile practice area.

When it’s not out delivering, our GPs will also be using the van for home visits, helping us provide care closer to home.

This is another step in our commitment to supporting the NHS Net Zero target, building on the installation of Air Source Heat Pumps at the surgery two years ago.

The van is being supported by the Caldbeck Surgery Charitable Fund, with the remaining costs covered by practice funds. Thank you to everyone who supports the fund — all donations make a real difference.
